It was a cold dark night, the rain came down in little drops but didn't cease from getting anyone who ventured into it from getting immediately drenched. Street lights flickered as the drops hit them as if wincing from pain. A lone bridge stood in the middle of what appeared to be an empty city, devoid of life or scared away by the rain. Yet there was one person, barely visible through the thick darkness that seemed to come with the rain, she stood on the bridge completely still, as if rooted to the spot by some unseen force. She'd stood there for so long It felt as if her feet where nonexistent. She could feel no pain, at least she shouldn't have been able too, yet she did. Though as the pain of her life's memories flashed through her mind a single tear made its way slowly down her face just as she felt the piercing pain of heartbreak and betrayal. It was his fault her forced her to live when there was nothing else left then took it away with the seeds of betrayal, leaving her broken and empty. This very bridge was where they met, where they shared their first kiss, and where he had shattered her very existence with deceit. Now everything she once had and everything she wanted was meaningless. Her dreams, and the very life she had dreamed of living so with that in mind she did away with the only thing she had left to give him and thus here she stood unmoving waiting for it to mean something, for everything that happened to not be meaningless, was all of this part of some big plan? Was she doomed to walk an eternity in pain? These questions ran through her mind over and over again as she was hit once again with the last memories of him and how he shattered her into tiny fragments with his words. Nothing's changed, she noticed, the rain still fell; the sun still rose and sank, life went on. This fact comforted her somehow, that even though everything had ended for her life still continued. With this in mind she stood up straight and lifted her head and slowly walked through the rain. With each step she walked faster and faster till she was at a full run, she was running so fast it was as if she was flying. Flying away from the place where it ended, away from the pain, away from the past. As she ran her footsteps came down silently, no puddles of water were disturbed as she went over them. She ran and ran till finally she reached the light and disappeared completely, there was no trace of her being there. No evidence of a person having stood where she stood experienced the pain she felt, or the relief that surged through her when she finally left. Only the memory of her life and the last days of her remain in the hearts of others. Yet the rain still continued to fall completely unhindered, washing away the pain of the past for a new tomorrow.
