"Zeke," she whispered fiercely as she clung on to his shirt desperately, "please don't go." Sharpay had never been like this, not for anyone besides Troy, and she knew it never worked for her. Being the desperate, clingy girlfriend wasn't a role she was born to play...but she'd always been told that expanding your horizons as an actress and putting yourself into something would never fail her.
He stood there, looking down at her as if she was beneath him. His heart wasn't open, his horizon's wouldn't expand for her anymore. She'd had her chances and he was sick and tired of being rejected as if he was scum. "You know what I'm going to say, Shar."
Her brown eyes showed more emotion than he ever thought she was capable of having.
Sharpay Evans wasn't in front of him. This girl was an imposter, a phony. A fake.
"Why is it like this," she cried into the warmth of his body. She vividly remembered a time where she had Zeke's heart to have and hold or break. Now the tables had turned. The rug had been lifted right from under her feet. "We can move on, Zeke. I'll change."
Change. That was a common theme for Sharpay. She was always changing. When Zeke commented that she looked better brunette, she'd changed her hair color to chestnut brown. When he told her that his favorite color was baby blue, she'd quickly gone shopping and changed her whole wardrobe.
Zeke Baylor never changed. He was always the same. When Sharpay would nag at him to cook more often, he'd stay at his seat watching basketball on tv and ignore her. When they went shopping and she'd told him that she just adored a diamond ring at the jewerly store, he just nodded and decided to go look at flat screen televisions.
"Sharpay, we can't be together. You know that." His words were cold and unforgiving. He had changed in her eyes. Zeke was no longer the baker boy who had pursued her. He'd grown into a heartless man who didn't care if he broke her heart.
Zeke had become Sharpay's former self.
It'd only taken three years for it to happen but there was no going back to their high school relationship.
Letting go of Zeke's shirt, Sharpay wiped at the mascara that smeared on her hands. "So, you're just going to up and go? Leave me behind for your dreams?"
Zeke picked up his suitcase by the handle and sighed before heading towards the door. "You did the same to me. Why would you expect me not to?" The door slammed behind him and in the distance Sharpay heard thunder. Staring at the door, hoping he'd walk back in, she sat down in the middle of the foyer and bawled.
Being an actress had always been her strong point because first thing in the morning, when everyone found out Zeke had finally left her, she'd put on her best act yet.
Was asked to make a Zekepay by kyw0202 so here you go. Hope you enjoy it.
