She was fighting to survive, like Glenn and Carl. Trying to keep her family safe like Rick and Daryl.

Her blood was spilling out of her abdomen. She'd been shot. She didn't remember when or how, but it happened. And she wouldn't let it stop her.

Carol barely felt the pain as she aimed her rifle and shot the bastard who attempted to kill her. Not knowing if he still stood or not she ran towards cover behind a vehicle. Quickly searching around she noticed Maggie hiding behind another vehicle across the prison yard.

Carol noticed Maggie cradling her arm. They locked eyes and Maggie grimly smiled. Carol nodded back, an unspoken oath resonated between the two. No matter how injured they were, they were going to protect what was important to them.

Carol barely heard Maggie yell before she was grabbed. She let out a yelp when her back hit the hard pavement. A man with an eye patch stood above her, smiling evily.

She heard Rick and the others talk about him: The Governor. He had a knack of killing innocent lives to satisfy is own desires. She wouldn't let that happen-

She reached for her gun. The Governor slammed his foot onto her hand. She yelled in pain.

"Not today." He pointed his gun at her head.

"Carol!"

As soon as she heard her name, the Governor was tackled out of her sight. She quickly looked to the right and couldn't believe her eyes:

Daryl!

Well, in a way she could. Because he was always there to save her. In a way, they saved each other didn't they?

Quickly pushing the thought out of her mind she got up, picked up her rifle and readied herself to go back into the battle field. She surveyed the area. Rick and Glenn and Tyreese and his group were quickly gaining control at the front gate. Maggie and Beth were holding their own as well.

We will win, Carol thought. And after it's all over with she just might have to kiss Daryl.
