In the Shadows

Act 1

Kiyoshi felt the water splash into her shows as she rushed through a puddle. She breathed rapidly taking a glance behind her as she turned a corner. The night air sent chills down her spine as she ran, breaking through the wind. She willed herself to go one, she couldn't stop, no she wouldn't. She felt the hood of her sweater slap on her back, as the breeze caught it, and dropped it back down. Kiyoshi listened to her fast breathes, and the tapping of her sneakers against the pavement. Her footsteps were soon followed by the clicking of shoes behind her. She turned a corner, and felt legs twist. Kiyoshi yelped, as she fell to the ground. Her ankle throbbing, and her face scratched. She struggled to get back up, but her hands would just shake wildly, and bring her back to the ground. She listened as the footsteps began to come closer, and louder. She tasted blood in her mouth, and felt the combination of pain, and fright surge through her. She saw the faint images of her parent's hollow heads as blood splattered upon her face. She heard the sound of a bullet being fired, and the screams of her mother which was soon silenced. Enraged, Kiyoshi stood back up, and regained her strength, or the tiny bit that was left.

Kiyoshi ran, ran as fast as she could and as far as her legs could take her. She ignored the sheering pain that would trail after her, and the shouts of the men behind her. She blocked out the world, and just keep going forward. A few minutes later, Kiyoshi jumped into an alley, and ran behind a pile of boxes. Her back leaned against the cold concrete wall, and her chest heaved in and out rapidly. Kiyoshi was exhausted, it was a miracle that she was still awake, or even able to move. Her body throbbed wildly, as if yelling for her to stop, to just give up, and give in. "No..." She muttered, "No no no, they cannot do this to me... it is wrong..." She hissed at herself through short breathes. She was unaware of the tears that strolled down her face as she sunk deeper into the wall. She was too busy, listening for the following footsteps, and waiting for her next escape. Her fingers dug into the concrete floor, as her heart began to beat wildly. The footsteps were now close, maybe too close. Kiyoshi pressed her back against the wall, wishing that she could morph through it, and hide from all this danger. Better yet, she wished this had never happened in the first place.

Suddenly, the footsteps stopped, and only Kiyoshi's rapid breathes could be heard. She sucked in some air, and heald her breathe, as she listened intently to the lingering figures. It was like a horror movie, Kiyoshi the victim, and the two men, the pshyco's. Kiyoshi's lungs screamed for air, it began pushing it's way to the top of Kiyoshi's throat, and slowly moving upwards. Kiyoshi sunk deeper into corner, her body becoming smaller and smaller. She then saw the shadow of the men in front of her, and kept her body still. A few seconds later, the shadow receeded, and soon disappeared. Kiyoshi sighed, letting her breathe loose. Wrong move. Almost instantly, the face of a stern man met with Kiyohsi's and it was only a matter of seconds for Kiyoshi. She felt herself being shot by a tranqualiazer gun, then carried towards a black limosuine. Her body thumped against the fine leather interior, and she watched, as her vision began hazy. Her final glimpses was the bright flash of light, then everything went black.
