No Way

Summary: Taylor sees Chad and Gabriella talking and assumes they like each other. Do they really like each other or not? Taylor's gonna find out. Chaylor oneshot with minor Jelsi.

It was after school. The hallways were empty except for a few kids. Taylor McKessie and Kelsi Nielson were talking about the difference between polar and nonpolar molecules. Well, Taylor was explaining the difference while Kelsi tried listening.

"Are you listening to me?" Taylor asked.

"Um . . . not really." Kelsi said. "I'm not interested in this sort of thing."

"I know ONE thing you're interested in." Taylor teased. Kelsi rolled her eyes. The two were waiting for Gabriella Montez so they could go shopping together.

Gabriella was at her locker. With Chad Danforth, leaning on some other lockers, in deep conversation.

Taylor almost dropped her book bag in total shock.

"What?" Kelsi asked. Taylor pointed to Gabriella and Chad. "Oh. At least they're not making out or anything . . ."

"That doesn't make me feel better, you know."

"Whatever. When are you gonna tell Chad?"

"Never, if those two are dating."

Kelsi sighed. "How about I tell Chad for you?"

"No!"
"Hey, Gabi's leaving." Kelsi said. "Tell Chad now."

Gabi came up. "Hey, guys. Um, I'll be back. I forgot something in the lab."

Taylor started walking to Chad. "Hi."

"Oh, hey Taylor."

Taylor tried to word what she was gonna say carefully. That didn't work. Before Taylor knew it, she was blurting this out. "I heard you and Gabi like each other."

Chad had been digging through his backpack looked up. "Where'd you hear that? Did some cheerleader tell you that?"

"Um, no. I didn't mean it like that. I meant . . ."

"Yeah?"

"I saw you two talking . . ."

"So you accuse people liking each other just because they're talking with each other?" Chad asked.

Taylor was speechless. She just looked at Chad.

"Well then . . ."

"Chad, I didn't mean it like that . . ."

"Look, Taylor, let's pretend we never had this conversation . . ." Chad said. He started to leave.

"Chad!" Taylor called out. "I like you!"

Chad spun around on one heel. "What?" He walked back to Taylor.

"I, um, like you . . ." Taylor said. Chad hugged her. Taylor was startled but the hug was a warm feeling.

"Well, Taylor. I like you too." Chad said. They kissed.

Meanwhile, Kelsi was watching with great interest.

"Weird . . ." someone said from behind her. Kelsi turned around. There was Jason Cross. Kelsi was happy.

"I wonder what happened to Chad's theory on cheerleaders?" Jason asked.

"Dead apparently." Kelsi said.

"I wonder what it's like to date a non cheerleader." Jason said, looking at Kelsi.

Kelsi shrugged. "I also wonder what it would be like to date someone that isn't in drama club."

They looked at each other briefly then Kelsi looked away, slightly blushing.

Gabi came back and looked around. Chad and Taylor were talking and Jason and Kelsi were standing awfully close to each other.

Gabriella had to embarrass Taylor. "Come on, Taylor. Your don't want your parents worrying about you."

Taylor walked over. "Don't worry, Gabi."

"Come on, what happened to our shopping trip?" Gabi asked.

Taylor and Kelsi looked at each other. "Um . . ."
Gabi asked the guys. "Do you guys wanna come?"

Chad laughed. "Shopping, huh? Nah. Go get yourself something pretty, Taylor."

The girls looked at Jason. "Well . . . No. Unless you're going for pizza."

All of them said their good byes and parted their different ways.
