You don't have to look close to find something to dislike about somebody, the obvious things that make you wary and want to keep your distance. It makes you sick, the way she casually throws you that meant to be cute grin, or the way his voice grates against the inside of your skull.

You'll see her look of rage at the slightest insult to the one dearest to her, or you'll find his face inches from yours as he spits verbal abuse into your face.

But at this close range, you start to see past that, and learn that, invariably, there will always be something to balance that out.

If you look closely, you might find the subtle hints that make those people beautiful. Like the way she twirls her bubblegum hair around her finger, or the way he smiles, and you feel as if it's just for you.

You might see the slight ever present powdery blush that paints her cheeks, or the tender calluses on his palms, a testimony to their determination.

You could find the strong glimmer in her emerald eyes and realize she's stronger than you know, or the carefully hidden sadness behind his cerulean eyes and know he's fighting a battle, same as you.

And slowly, you'll start to notice less the ugly things, the things that once made you wary. They've been replaced it seems, by the things you've finally noticed. And now, you don't ever want to let those things go.
