Please...

"Yuu-chan, please open the door."

He needs to get away. He needs to hide. He can't be caught, not again. He doesn't want it.

The other teen tries to ignore the noise the idiot rabbit is making but something sounds different. There is desperation in the rabbit's voice. There is fear.

He gets up hesitantly and opens the door.

"Shut the hell up," he might have said but the red head suddenly enters the room and hides beneath his covers.

Kanda shuts the door with irritation. He walks towards the idiot rabbit causing him so much trouble.

"Yuu-chan, can I please stay here? Jiji won't be back till next week," the red head says sounding like a child.

"Tch. Just keep quiet," says Kanda before lying down in his bed. He's too tired to argue and beat the hell out of the idiot. He'll just make the red head pay the next day. He needs his sleep.

He let it pass but for the next week, the red head keeps bothering him every night like a frightened child. He notices marks on the red head's skin. There are bruises on his wrists that the red head tries to hide. The red head walks strangely with a limp.

When Bookman returns, the red head stops bothering him.

A month passes by, it happens again.

The red head knocks at his door.

"Yuu-chan, please open the door."

Kanda opens the door and lets the red head in. The idiot takes the bed like usual leaving space for Kanda to join him.

He wants to ask the red head what is wrong but knows that asking won't do anything but make the red head even more afraid.

He has suspicions on what is happening but the question is who and why the red head isn't doing anything. Is he being blackmailed?

Kanda lies down on the bed. The red head clings to him desperately. He's shaking.

Normally, Kanda will shove the red head off the bed and kick him out the room for that but he doesn't. He lets the red head hold onto him while he sleeps. He tries to sleep but the red head is having nightmares.

"Please stop," he says.

"Wake up Baka usagi!" Kanda holds him by the shoulders and tries to wake him up.

"Yuu-chan?"

"What's going on with you?"

"Sorry. Just a really bad nightmare. I'll leave."

"Sleep."

The red head lies back down. He holds on to Kanda.

Two months later, Bookman leaves again.

"Please let me stay, Yuu-chan. I won't bother you as much."

"You're already bothering me."

"Please, Yuu-chan."

Kanda lets the red head in and closes the door.

"Tell me."

Kanda can't take it anymore. This has to stop.

The red head remains silent.

"Who's hurting you?"

"No one's hurting me, Yuu-chan."

"I'm not an idiot."

"Yeah, I'm the idiot."

"You're not."

Kanda stops calling him an idiot after that.

The next day, the red head doesn't bother him even if Bookman is still away. It seems the red head bothered the beansprout instead. The red head avoids him that week until he leaves for a mission.

A month later, the red head knocks at his door.

"Yuu-chan, can I please stay? Even just tonight. Jiji's not here. Allen's on a mission."

Kanda lets the red head in. He wants to ask but the red head might avoid him again.

In the next few months, he doesn't see the rabbit at all. The missions take him elsewhere. He returns late one night but goes to the office as usual to hand in his report.

There is no one in the office. He is about to leave but then hears a sound behind the wall where there is a small opening. He hasn't seen this before.

There is a pained cry... a familiar voice...

He readies his katana. Something hits him on the head from the back. He blacks out.

Kanda wakes up in the infirmary. The nurse tells him that he lost consciousness after a mission. It has been a week.

"Where's Lavi?" he asks.

"I haven't seen him around. He must still be in a mission."

Kanda's head still hurts.

Everything is a blur.

And nothing.

Kanda returns to his room the next day. Someone knocks on his door. It isn't the red head.

"Lavi left with Bookman. They're not returning anymore. He asked me to give this to you," the beansprout hands him a note.

Kanda takes the note and shuts the door. He takes a seat on his bed and reads.

Yuu-chan,

I'm really sorry for bothering you.

Thank you for being yourself, good old Yuu-chan.

I could have gone elsewhere but I don't know why...

I just thought maybe, when I'm beside you... it's just safer.

I know you suspect what's happening. I'm still not telling you what.

I'm losing my mind and probably did. Bookman will fix it with the clan's technique. I'll forget.

I hesitated with this plan before because I didn't want to forget you... but I can't take it anymore. I can't hide the pain. It's interfering with my job and I've felt something I shouldn't have.

Aishiteru, Yuu-chan. I just wanted to say it before I forget.

You don't need to remember this crap I'm saying. You don't need to remember me. I'm just saying good bye. Please burn this letter. Burn everything away from your memory. Forget me too.

Goodbye and thank you.

Baka Usagi (Lavi)

Tears dripped down on the paper. It was too late. He was too late. He should have realized the odd feeling and concern.

A determined look is suddenly brought about his face. What the fuck is the idiot rabbit saying?

He won't forget. He won't give up. There is still a chance. Who know? Who will if he hasn't tried?
