Tears

Summary: Roland is dying, as his employer grieves Roland reflects on the times he'd seen Seto cry before.

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

Warnings: I call Gozoburo a bastard that's it and character death.

A/N Written because Roland gets no love and I personally think that over the years they'd become close friends.

A/N 2 NOT INTENDED AS SHONEN-AI!!!

Roland had seen Seto Kaiba cry before.

Not many people can say that. But only he can say he watched the icy-eyed CEO cry himself to sleep at least twice a week for nearly three years.

Shortly after the young heir turned thirteen, Gozoburo decided to watch his pet genius more closely. A miniscule camera was installed and two goons were assigned to watch in twelve-hour shifts.

Roland watched from seven in the evening to the a.m. when his relief came.

During those twelve hours a day the man came to learn much about his future employer. He learned that Mokuba snuck his older brother forbidden games, which were hidden in the hollow area of the window bench. He learned that the youth was already forming plans to takeover Kaiba Corp., details could be found on a flash drive and several pieces of paper under a false bottom in the top left hand desk drawer. He learned that Seto was already designing video games and hologram systems, stored under a loose floorboard in his closet.

Gozoburo knew none of this.

Because the bastard deserved it. The bastard deserved it for breaking the spirit of that child, for driving a boy who had done nothing wrong to swear vengeance, for making someone so strong sob so brokenly, Gozoburo Kaiba had it coming.

During those years a question would lurk in the back of Roland's mind: didn't Seto know his every move was being watched?

It wasn't until the night before the takeover that he got his answer. When, after putting the finishing touches on his preparations, Seto looked directly at the camera.

There were tears in his eyes, that wasn't unusual, but they were tears of a different sort. Tears of relief and gratitude.

"Thank you," he'd said, and Roland knew that it was because he'd taken a risk and trusted the man behind the camera that he'd succeeded.

That was the last time he'd seen Seto cry…

Until now.

There were tears streaming down the young man's face as the siren of an ambulance drew closer. Roland's vision continued to darken as his employer's tears of grief dripped onto his face.

These were the last tears he'd see the man cry…
