Kurenai was feeling lonely this Christmas Eve, this was the first time she had to spend it without Asuma, so she simply went to the memorial stone and just stood there in the cold snow. Then, Kakashi started to pass by and saw Kurenai, standing in the middle of a rather strong blizzard.
"Kurenai, you're gonna get a cold this way, you better get home" Kakashi said with concern
"No, I'm not leaving, even if I die here, I don't care" Kurenai coldly replied, with her warm tears touching the cold ground, melting some snow
A few minutes later, Kurenai was coughing and sniffling slightly, which made Kakashi worry, and she was shivering even more than before, Kakashi just wanted to wrap his arms around her to keep her warm, so he came closer to her and started to lift his arms, but then, Kurenai fainted, so Kakashi sent her to Tsunade and asked what was wrong.
"Well, seems she fainted because of the coldness, that and she has an intense fever" Tsunade said, "someone's gonna have to take care of her" she added.
Kakashi nodded and went into the snow, he struggled getting to her house because it was so far away. When he finally got there, he slinged one of Kurenai's arms over his shoulder and opened the door. He went upstairs, still carrying her and laid her on her bed when he got there. He then went downstairs and starts making tea and hot soup for Kurenai. A few minutes later, Kurenai woke up with wet damp towel on her head, and she was aroused by the aroma of the soup, she then went downstairs and saw Kakashi at her stove, and she noticed the mistletoe on her ceiling, just above her couch, she was actually the one who put it there, however, Asuma never seemed to notice it. She continued going downstairs just as Kakashi was done already. He put the two cups of tea and the bowl of soup on a tray and put it on a table in front of her couch. He sat down on one end of the couch and got the cup of tea, and he started to lower his mask, but Kurenai interrupted him.
"Kakashi, why are you doing this, for me?" she asked in confusion
"Well, friends don't abandon friends right, and you're my friend..." he replied
Kurenai can't help but smile at his answer, Kurenai thinks Kakashi doesn't notice the mistletoe on the ceiling, but he noticed it when he got into the house,. Kakashi got closer to Kurenai giving her the other cup of tea and her soup, then he started to lower his mask again, and Kurenai was amazed by Kakashi's face, seeing it to be so handsome, but because the window is slightly open, Kurenai began to shiver again, seeing this as a chance, Kakashi put down his cup for a while and hugged Kurenai, she was surprised by Kakashi's action. After few seconds, Kurenia was getting warmer and Kakashi finally let go, gazing at her red eyes, knowing what to do, he slightly leaned in and gave a quick but gentle kiss on Kurenai's lips. Kurenai was even more surprised by this, and started to blush, but she slightly returned the favour, coming closer to him and passionately kissed him, Kakashi then kissed back, and after a few seconds, Kakashi whispered in Kurenai's ear,
"Kurenai, I love you, I loved you all along, and no matter what happens, I will always be there for you"
"I love you too," Kurenai replied.
Night began to fall, so Kurenai went to her room, but Kakashi wanted to sleep in the guest bedroom, and both fell sound asleep as the blizzard began to fade away
