Hello from France! Turns out we don't get wireless where we're staying but we found an internet cafe! We go home tomorrow but it's a long car journey/ferry ride back so I'll be home about 10:10pm England Time. I decided to upload this for you guys, and I have one more one-shot and a couple more ideas for when I get home! I hope you guys enjoy my second JONAS story! :) I look forward to catching up with all your stories when I get back!
Stella Monroe went for the bad boys.
There was Steve Tyler when she was in first grade, who never did his math homework and kicked over sandcastles when nobody was looking.
Then there was Oliver Scott when she was in third grade, who stole people's cookies - though she never knew that until she saw him, and they broke up (which, for a nine year old is pretty serious) because of it.
Next was James Parks when she was in fifth grade, and dating was a big thing. They held hands and she kissed him on the cheek sometimes so that for the rest of the day his cheeks smelt like her apple lip gloss. It turned out he wanted more because she found him kissing Olivia Rose on the lips behind the bike shed.
After James was Eric White, when she was in sixth grade and having a boyfriend was necessary if you wanted to be popular. He told her that his brother was teaching him how to drive even though he was only twelve. He was her first proper kiss, and she thought that she was in love with him, because when you're twelve having butterflies in your stomach meant love straight away. He broke up with her because he said he preferred brunettes.
Two years after, in eighth grade, she fell for Duncan James, who wore leather jackets and smoked even though he was only fourteen. They went out for three months until he started to pressure her into doing it. She broke up with him as soon as his hand went up her top while they were kissing at his house.
Her latest boyfriend, now in tenth grade, was Andy. He smoked, rode a motorbike and told her she was sexy. She found out she wasn't sexy enough because he turned out to be having sex with Abigail Summers at his house every time Stella was absent. She'd broken up with him three days ago.
So, after her streak of bad boys, how could she fall for someone like Joe?
Joe Lucas, who had been her best friend ever since he'd punched Steve Tyler, her first boyfriend back in first grade, when he'd told Stella she was stupid.
Joe Lucas, who always did his homework because, although he wouldn't admit it, he was scared of getting a detention.
Joe Lucas, who had never smoked or drunk alcohol in his life.
Joe Lucas, who never wore leather jackets because they 'irritated his skin'.
Joe Lucas, who argued with her over things such as the pants she'd designed for him and what bird he'd seen in the garden.
Joe Lucas, who would tell her she was beautiful every day and would never cheat on her, call her stupid or pressure her into anything.
So maybe he wasn't a bad boy, but it was good to break a pattern, Stella learned, when Joe confessed a week after her break up with Andy that he was crazy about her and had loved her ever since sixth grade. And when he kissed her, leather jackets and smoking and not doing math homework didn't seem so attractive anymore.
Bad boys, she soon realised, had nothing on Joe Lucas.
