Drowning in the Light

I'm drowning in a sea of golden radiance. A sunbeam chains me to the relentless, fiery sun. A shadow cannot exist without light. But when surrounded completely the shadow dies, extinguished like a candle in a hurricane. But what if you put the candle in a hurricane glass to protect it? Would it cling, painfully, to life like I do? Always close to flickering out, to ending the agony? Wouldn't you too try to flee the storm, escape the beautiful, deadly, deceitful illumination? And so, I throw myself against the glass; flee the ever-present glow. Seeking the oblivion that is my only escape. From the Dragon tribe and Lykouleon, from the yokai and Nadil, and from myself and my painful existence.
