I Don't own them… Paramount does…. But paramount got it wrong…

I do

"I do" she heard him say.

She had done it- she had married him. They were married. She looked up and saw his dimpled smile. The dark lines of his tribal tattoo above his left brow seemed so handsome now more than ever.

She looked around at the smiling crew; the cheering rung in her ears and the bright flash of the doctor's holocamera almost blinded her eyes.

She Kathryn Janeway straightened out her dress uniform; it had been a true Starfleet wedding.

Very unfitting, she felt, for the union of two who did not belong to Starfleet, the union of the ex-Maquis captain and traitor to the federation, and the bride the ex-Borg drone that she had liberated from the collective.

Kathryn Janeway felt a single tear fall from her eye, at least she had done her duty as their captain, she had married them, the had performed the ceremony.

She had married the man she loved to a younger woman; a woman she felt far less etched at full of baggage than she, a far more beautiful woman.

Kathryn watched as the rose colour lips of the young blonde woman met with the handsome lips that Kathryn had long since desired to clam as her own.

Kathryn watched as the slender hand of the ex-Borg caressed the lines of the tattoo Kathryn had always wanted to trace.

Kathryn turned away; she could take no more of this pain.

There was no hope for Kathryn left….

Seconds later she felt somebody pressing their body tight against her back, she did not move when she heard his whisper in her ear,

"I am sorry my dear Kathryn, I settled for a compromise, I chose second best because it was given to me." Kathryn was about to face him when he whispered, "forgive me my one true love."

And with that he was gone, back into the slender arms of his young and beautiful new wife.

A wife that was not her.
