A man walks along the clean streets of Piltover as rain showers the city, but not in the gloomy way. The sun was very much here, and the sky was blue as can be. Body wise, the man was pretty young, probably in his mid-twenties. However, it was hard to tell with his face being covered with a brown cloak of leather. Along with that, he wore odd gloves, one glove which was more oddly hidden than the rest of his body. He walks into a bar, as the residents within it stare at the man with curiosity and fear. He simply ignores them, grabs an issue of the Journal of Justice and sits at a booth, alone.

PREPARING FOR THE NOVICE LEAGUE MATCH

"Bob Nashago reporting from the Institute of War

Hello citizens of Valoran, I am here today with some very exciting news. First off, it may be obvious that the annual Novice League Match is coming up! Festivels are being held all over the continent, Bandle City is hosting a grand fireworks show & a city-fair is planned to be held in Demacia.

As a reminder to the two nations partaking in this event; this match is not a solution to a political conflict, but rather for entertainment. Along with entertainment, it's also used to show off the prowess of newly applied Champions who haven't had a political conflict to solve. This year, It's Demacia vs Noxus as they always bump heads.

A bit of history on the NLM; it began around the year 13 CLE with the creation of the Runic Television (or 'Seer's Box'). League matches at that time were very serious, as Valoran was still recovering from the Rune-Wars. However, one such Summoner took advantage of this new invention and decided to transmit the view of the Fields of Justice to the RTVs (Runic TeleVisions) all over Piltover through the use of telepathic-waves. The public was entertained by the sight of seeing their famous Champions actually take part in these battles, so the creation of the Novice League Match took place a year or so after.

TIRO & SMITH

Today I visited Demacia to meet somebody very special in this year's NLM. I present you, the most recent Champion to join the League and biggest newbie; Tiro, the Adept Techmaturgist.

Ram: "So tell us Tiro, where do you come from?"

Tiro: "Well, I was born in Piltover, but my parents soon decided to move to Demacia when I was about 13 years of age."

Ram: "Interesting, a dual citizenship. So how do you feel about being part of this year's NLM?"

Tiro: "Oh it's very exciting! I joined the League about 3 years ago and the most action I got was from practice dummies. I can't wait to finally practice in an ACTUAL battle within the REAL Fields of Justice!"

Ram: "Don't get your hopes up too much kid! This year's Champions seem pretty dangerous."

Tiro: "What do you mean? Isn't this like, a practice thing for beginners?"

Ram: "Well yes and no. This year, not as many Champions have joined lately so this NLM were recycling Champions who have had one or two shares of battle in the Fields of Justice. Along with that, this is suppose to be a sort of 'first impression' thing for Champs."

Tiro: [Pause]"Right, well how hard can it be? They'll go easy on me, right?"

Ram: "Sure kid. But enough about the NLM, let's talk about you. As you're the newest Champ we got, what can you do exactly? Adept Techmaturgist, why do they call you that?"

Tiro: "Well, being from Piltover and growing up with a father for an engineer I honed my skills once I moved to Demacia. At first I made small gimmicks and toys that nobody would really want, but as I grew older I eventually created a suit of armor with an endoskeleton that you can wear, to make it easier to control. The government of Demacia saw this and helped me create the Demacian-styled armor I have today. Meet Smith, say hi Smith!"

[A large shadow appears from behind Tiro, as the figure looms closer and grows larger. Sounds of whirring gears and clanking pieces of metal drown out the interview for a bit]

Smith: "GREETINGS, AM I IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE?"

Ram: "Incredible! You're suit is it's own golem?"

Tiro: "Occasionally, I sometimes take control, but it's mostly Smith doing the dirty work, I work out the kinks and repair him as we go along. At least that's the plan..."

Ram: "Very nice, are the Demacian military interested in your technology?"

Tiro: "Well, yes. But it'll be difficult to mass-produce, and hard to teach the pilots."

Ram: "I gotta say Tiro, I see a future of battles for you. Good luck on the NLM!"

Until next time, your eye inside the League of Legends.

BREAKING NEWS

LARGE COMET REPORTED HURDLING TOWARD VALORAN

Intal Ragsmith broadcasting from Zaun

Though Zaunites are known for their crazed experiments and madness, they have recently reported something very peculiar and catastrophic. Reports are coming to the Institute of War by many Zaunite astronomers about a large glowing object in space hurdling toward. With special telescopes, Piltover has also reported myriad amounts of alien magical energies emitting from the meteor. "It truly is incredible" claims Professor Coesall, the one who first reported the magical energies from the Comet. "However, I hypothesize that this meteor will bring complete utter destruction on impact" he says.

None of the Astronomers, both from Zaun and Piltover have predicted or know when the Comet will land. Some think it'll be years, weeks or even days until it comes into contact. The craziest of theorists within the crowds of Zaun think it'll land specifically on the NLM. Because of this, riots and protests are being held all over Zaun and in some areas of Piltover, Bandle City and Demacia.

I've interviewed famous League Champion Soraka, as she had came to the Institute of War with more 'mystical' details on the Comet. "I saw visions of this event long ago" she says. "This falling star will bring ruin and chaos to Valoran. But my visions were unclear and very vague, I seek more clues to this future event if I am to find a solution." Not exactly the most settling things to say about the Comet. Her current whereabouts are unknown, as she has been silent lately.

JIMMOTHY

THE FIRST ZAUNITE OCTO-PANDA BORN IN CAPTIVITY

Today also marks the birth of Jimmothy, the first octo-panda born in the Zaunite Zoo captivit-"

The man had read enough.

He closes the article, and takes a sip of his drink. His drink is not alcohol, as Piltover has found many much healthier beverages to replace the effects of alcohol. He then lowers his hood, revealing a familiar face with blonde hair. "Comet on a collision course with Valoran? Sounds like an adventure..." exclaims Ezreal.
