The sight in on itself was gruesome. A long trail of blood lead to a body mangled, and

abused. Inuyasha walked closer, sniffing delicately at the air. His eyes widened as he

picked up the familiar scent of Higurashi Kagome. Horrified, Inuyasha raced over to the

body, dropping limply down next to her.

Kagome's normally bright eyes were dulled by death- and tracing the length of her

body was a single claw mark. and a very familiar one at that. Inuyasha raised his hand

to his face, before growling in pain. His hands were bloodied- bloodied by the scent of a

girl. Of her. Unspoken words echoed through his head- the thoughts of the argument they

had. And now, she was dead.

The familiarity of the situation struck Inuyasha, and he lashed out. A feral scream ripped

from his throat, as he ripped into his own flesh, creating a bloody wound. The shattering

attack of Hijinkessou devastated the peaceful surroundings of the forest. Almost

immediately after, Inuyasha collapsed next to the limp body of Kagome, reaching out a

gentle hand to touch her cold cheek.

"I promise. you won't be alone." The quiet sound of sword being unsheathed

seemingly echoed through the silent forest.

"Aishiteru, Kagome."

It had been three days, and still no one heard from either Kagome or InuYasha. Far past

concerned, Miroku, Sango and Shippo had set out to find them. And they did- Kagome

pulled onto Inuyasha's lap- and the hanyou dead, his sword sticking through his chest.

Miroku walked towards them, before kneeling next to the two, a gentle hand closing the

eyes of Kagome, and pulling the bloodied sword from the other's grasp. He closed a hand

on Kagome's hand, then pulled it to clasp Inuyasha's own hand.

And like that they were buried- together after death, apart during life.
