"Sorry, am I interrupting?"

"You will not be allowed to interfere, Dean Winchester. You are no longer the vessel." Says Michael, holding out his hand, barely even looking at Dean. Dean is then hurled backwards, out of the cemetery, and when he tried to reenter, there seemed to be some sort of force field keeping him out.

"Shall we?" asked Michael.

"If we must." Responded Lucifer.

Dean watched helplessly as Castiel teleported in alongside Bobby, both unable to enter.

They all felt it as Michael and Lucifer collided. Lucifer landed the first hit on Michael, square in the jaw. He was knocked backwards, his feet dragging chunks of ground back with him. He got himself and held his arms back, anticipating Lucifer's next move. He ran towards him, and Michael thrust both of his arms forward, knocking Lucifer upward. Michael jumped towards him, tackling him back to the ground. He tuned out Dean's screams as he began to beat Lucifer mercilessly.

However, Lucifer wasn't down for the count. He caught one of Michael's punches and countered it, knocking him off. Both of them attempted to knock each other back telekinetically, which caused a tremor as neither of them budged.

Dean, Bobby, and Castiel watched helplessly for what seemed like eternity. They saw both Michael and Lucifer take the upper hand many times. Dean rubbed his fingers together, wishing he had the rings that lay within Sam's… Lucifer's jacket.

Finally, the battle was nearing an end. Lucifer was on the ground, bleeding. Michael called on his sword and proclaimed the victory for heaven. Even Michael was forced to acknowledge Dean's blood-curdling scream before he thrust his sword downward to eliminate Lucifer. He looked Dean dead in the eyes.

"Dean Winchester, one day you will see this is for the greater good."

"What are you waiting for, Michael? Do just what father has ordered you to do."

Michael shot one last look of regret towards his brother before slamming the sword into his chest.

He coughed up blood and said "See… you… in hell…"

"Unlikely." Responded Michael as Lucifer's essence exploded from within Sam's body, leaving him a lifeless husk.

As soon as the light died down, the force field seemed to dissipate, and Dean, Bobby, and Castiel came running towards Michael. He held up his hand and they all stopped.

"Lucifer is slain. The apocalypse is averted. I am truly sorry for your loss, Dean Winchester. Your brother, Adam Milligan, is now free."

Before anyone could say anything, Michael burst from within Adam, causing him to fall to the ground, unconscious. Bobby and Castiel both ran towards Adam, but Dean trudged towards Sam's body. He kneeled down and scooped up Sam's head. He gazed down at his brother's face and wept.

"I'm so sorry, Sammy. I'm so sorry I couldn't save you." Cried Dean as he buried his face into Sam's chest.

Just a few feet over, Castiel, already feeling more powerful, touched Adam, causing him to wake up.

"It's alright, Adam Milligan. You're alive."

He looked up and saw that Bobby was looking over at Dean. Adam turned his head, still breathing heavily, and saw his brother, holding the body of his other brother that had just been killed by an angel using his body.

Castiel's words repeated themselves in his head.

"You're alive." But at what cost?
