Another original Thomas story written by Samantha613, this time it's "Toby's Usefulness" Enjoy and comment.
"Ever since Toby the Tram Engine had learned that Sir Topham Hatt will not take one of his engines out of service, he has become more useful and valuable to any engine in help or need of advice."
One night, Toby puffed back into Tidmouth Sheds. Only James and Percy were there, as the other engines hadn't arrived back yet.
James and Percy were talking about their day.
I had a very busy day today with all the work I did. How was yours?" asked James.
"Well, James, I've been very useful today too, with all the stuff I helped out with", Percy replied.
"I got new paint from Sir Topham Hatt as my old one was getting rusty.", said James.
"That's real nice.", Percy said "but what about my repaint?"
"My paint is the best paint on Sodor." boasted James.
"It's not fair.", said Percy crossly.
Toby could see an argument between the two was about to start, so he decided to pitch in...with a little help from his friends, who had just arrived back from their busy day.
"I think that your paint looks very nice like that." Toby told James.
"That's right. So is yours, Percy. It's real nice too." added in Percy.
Percy doesn't think it's fair that James would get something before him.
"You came after James arrived." explained Edward
Percy was curious.
"Why is that?", he questioned.
"Because after the big engines refused to come out of their sheds, Sir Topham Hatt purchased you, and brought you here to Sodor." explained Edward.
"But you'll soon get what you want." said Thomas. "But for now, you can admire you nice, shiny green paint.
Percy felt much better now.
"I get it. I understand. Thank you everyone for helping me see that there is a good thing to have on the railway.", Percy said.
The other engines agreed.
"Toby what do you think again?" James then asked Toby,
"It looks magnificent.", he said back.
"Why, thank you.",James thanks him, then asked him about his day.
Toby is confused, but decided to tell James his days events.
"Uh, well. I'll say what I did that was useful.", Toby said.
And after he was done, James was asleep. Percy can only guess that all that talking made him tired, and Toby had agreed.
He felt proud for helping the engines out and preventing an argument.
