Despite the fact they had been partners for eight years Alex still felt he was complete stranger to her. They were both to blame for the lack of off-work togetherness, they reminded each other of the work and both needed a rest from it. He was private, had strange hobbies such as reading the Smithsonian magazine and she liked to see her family, especially her nephew.

At times she wondered what it would be like to invite Bobby to her place to watch a dvd and order in a pizza. Than she realized she won't want to watch anything he would pick, assuming it would be a a long and boring documentary.

In eight years she had never even seen his apartment from the inside, just the door and a blue painted door knob as she banged on the door when he was oddly late. He phoned the cell to tell her he was on his way. She never did ask about about the knob, those are questions friends ask each other.
