Summary: Why won't Pete dance with Chloe?

"You won't dance with me because I white! You think I CAN'T dance because I'm white!! " Chloe said indignantly to Pete as the lights in Metropolis' newest 18 and under club danced around them.

"What? Chloe, that's nuts!" Pete exclaimed, hoping she wouldn't see through his lie. It's not that he didn't want to dance with her because she was white-no, it wasn't that at all. He was afraid-things might happen between them on the dance floor.

"Liar!" Chloe cried, obviously getting offended none of her friends wanted to dance with her after she showed them the workings of the Metropolis club scene. "Fine. I'm going to find some hottie from Metropolis High to dance with!" Chloe said, turning to find another boy to dance with.

"Chloe!" Pete said, grabbing her arm. There was no way he was going to unleash trying-to-prove-a-point-Chloe into the wilds of a big city nightclub.

"What? Talk fast, I like this song and I plan to find someone to dance with!" Chloe said, locking Pete with her gaze.

He saw the pain that swam with indignation and hurt in her eyes. He couldn't bear it. "Will you dance with me?"

"Wh--?" Chloe looked confused for a minute. "Yes, I will." She said, letting him lead her onto the floor.

A fast-paced dance mix of Christian Aguilera's song 'Dirry' was pumping throughout the club.

//It's explosive, speakers are pumping

Still jumping, six in the morning

Table dancing, glasses are mashing

No question, time for some action//

"This song RULES!" Chloe cried as she started dancing, completely blowing away Pete. "Yeah, that's right!" Chloe grinned as she saw the look on Pete's face. "Who says white girl can't get down?" She grinned, twirling her hips around like a snake. Chloe stopped grinning as the look on Pete's face didn't change. "Hey, I'm sorry about.earlier. I guess being back home makes me a little crazy." Chloe said, staring at Pete again.

"Or is it the fact that everyone in this joint seems to have a significant other?" Pete said, then mirrored Chloe sigh. "But we're gonna blow them outta the water with your dancing!" Pete said, grabbing Chloe's waist and pulling her to him as she started doing her thing again.

For a few seconds, Chloe and Pete forgot who they were. They forgot about all the hurts they've caused each other and other had caused them. They forgot about being just friends. They forgot about everything but the beat and bumping 'n' grinding in time with one another.

// Temperature's up

About to erupt

Gonna get my girls

Get your boys

Gonna make some noise//

The extended dance mix ended and Pete suddenly pulled away from Chloe, causing her to trip over herself and look up at him.

"What's wrong?" She yelled over the music. Pete motioned her over to a secluded corner where the music was a little less pulsating.

"I-I can't believe we just did that." Pete said, still flushed from having Chloe's body up against his.

"I know!" Chloe laughed, hoping she didn't seem to off center to Pete. Her mind was still reeling from being in such close contact with one of her best guy friends-and from his hypnotic moves.

"I don't think I regret it." Pete said, taking the bold first step.

"I don't think I do either." Chloe said, grinning.

// Let's get open, cause a commotion

We're still going, eight in the morning

There's no stopping, we keep it popping

Hot rocking, everyone's talking//

Pete took Chloe's grin as a green light and leaned down a bit to push his lips against hers. She responded immediately, weaving her arms around his waist.

Neither of them noticed when two dark haired teenagers caught a glimpse of them from opposite sides of the club.

// Uh, what//
