Rythian's eyes were drifting from the red-headed beauty in front of him to the forest surrounding them. They had gone on a walk in search of god knows what and had managed to get 'a little bit lost', as Zoey would put it. Zoey stopped and looked left and right, trying to find a familiar landmark. She sighed, turning around to the smirking mage behind her. "Fine, you win. Let's use your idea and just teleport," Zoey said crankily. Rythian chuckled and poked her forehead, "We can't do it now. If we teleport now there's a major chance that we could end up in a swarm of monsters."
Zoey huffed and sat down, pouting. The mage walked over to a cave nearby, clearing out a few straggling zombies. Zoey, exhausted from walking all day, was now asleep against a tree. Rythian walked over, picking her up gently, and carried her (princess style) inside the cave. Once inside, the mage carefully placed his apprentice on the ground and blocked up the entrance. A small fire was made and he leaned back against the cave wall, looking over to his sleeping friend.
He loved her, well at least he thinks he does. After living by himself for years he had completely forgotten what love felt like. Rythian had always dreamed of her in his arms, but it was all a dream. She didn't love him, he knew it. Why would anyone love a revenge-craving monster like him. Plus, she was his apprentice, it would be weird if they were ever together. The mage snapped out of his thoughts when he heard the slight chattering of teeth. He chuckled as he placed his cloak over Zoey, who had forgot hers, and whispered to her about how forgetful she can be.
Rythian sat down beside her and subconsciously started fiddling with her hair. Zoey moved a little in her sleep which made Rythian pull his hand away from her head. He cursed slightly for waking her, relaxing as she was soon snoring again. The mage tried to focus on manipulating his magic and focusing it in a certain part of his body but was soon stopped as the red-head shuffled again. This time she rolled so her head was on his leg. He froze and tried to slow his racing heart. Zoey smiled in her sleep as he relaxed and put his hand on her head. Soon both the mage and his apprentice were asleep in the cave.
A sudden jerk ripped the mage from his slumber as his body was pulled into what seemed to be the morning light. Screaming told him that the light wasn't the sun but the one thing that would change his life forever. Fire was everywhere, the screaming was coming from within the flames. Rythian ran towards them and saw a flash of bright red hair. As he reached for the hand he could see his body fell into a dark vortex.
Rythian's eyes snapped open as his eyes adjusted to the bright morning light that was coming through his tent flap. He sat up and put his head in his hands whilst he thought things over. All his memories came flooding back and he remembered that he was truly alone in this world. Zoey wasn't just a little bit lost, she was gone forever. There is no way of bringing back someone who was dead. It was all because of that stupid forest fire, one little ember that started this. He couldn't live like this anymore. Rythian picked up his enderbane and drove it through his heart. His last thought, "I'll finally get to see you again Zoey." Everything went black.
