Edward Cullen was very grateful he had excellent peripheral vision, it made it so much simpler to sneak glances at Bella without her noticing. Every time he looked at her, he saw something new. The rosy blush on her cheeks was obvious, of course, but it was the little things - the tics and mannerisms - that had him captivated.

The last time he had peeked at her from the corner of his eye, he saw her catch the corner of her lower lip with her teeth, and then release it almost immediately, as if she had suddenly become aware of the action. He wondered why she did it, and why she stopped. He wanted to get inside her head.

Not that he would understand much, he figured. He was no idiot, but Bella was, like, scary smart.

And she was here, with him, at the Forks High Fall Carnival.

Edward wasn't exactly a ladies man and his older brother never let him forget. But he liked Bella, and she liked him, and to hell with Emmett.
