Hello. I really don't know where this came from, but it just sprung from my mind in about 15 minutes so I decided to just go ahead and publish it. It's not really slash or anything like that - in fact, I'll leave it up to your own interpretation to decide whether it is or not. Regardless, I hope you enjoy!

Crimson Conundrum
"Personally, as Munakata Reisi, I want to help you, Suoh."
Despite what anyone said, Reisi really didn't want him to die.
There was something about him that Reisi just couldn't ignore. Perhaps it was his red hair and exotic golden eyes; perhaps it was his attitude, his charisma and inner strength, his struggle deep inside to control the violence that surged through him.
Perhaps it was that he was such a loose cannon; totally free to roam without stipulations or boundaries. Perhaps it was the people he surrounded himself with; a rag-tag group who were as loyal as any King could possibly ask, and who would follow him to the ends of the earth without hesitation.
If he let them, that is.
Maybe it was the look in his eyes that Reisi was captivated by and respected immediately. That look of not-quite-boredom that just barely hid the fire that raged beneath.
Perhaps it was the strange air about him, a special aura that all Kings seemed to carry like an invisible cloak of power and duty. His was usually more untamed than the others, his wild nature making it hard to curb his natural instincts. It could have been potentially extremely dangerous for civilians, but he also seemed to possess an unusual ability to harness his power in such a way that, while it overflowed almost ridiculously, allowed him to soften it so that weak non-Clansmen wouldn't suffer unnecessarily.
Perhaps it was his mercy and sense of justice that made Reisi curious; he would beat down those that threatened his Clansmen, but he wouldn't kill unless he thought they deserved it, and even then it was always for a very good reason. There was a strange kindness that belied his otherwise violent nature, and made him a very interesting person.
Whatever it was, Reisi knew that he really didn't want him to die. It infuriated Reisi that he seemed to embrace his death so willingly, despite Reisi's attempts to help and reason with him, but eventually Reisi realized that his self-sacrifice was another thing that drew Reisi to him like a moth to a flame.
Perhaps it was that recklessness (so unlike Reisi) that forced Reisi to become closer to him in an effort to understand why. Why he did what he did. Why he went against logic time and again. Why he stared death in the face and laughed, smirking as he embraced it whole-heartedly.
He was many things. He was reckless, bold, stupid, stubborn, kind, violent, and gentle (though not many people had the privilege of seeing his gentle side). He was a leader. He was fierce. He was accepting. He was arrogant. He was wise. He was a conundrum.
He was Red.
He was a King.
But most of all, he was Suoh Mikoto, and perhaps that was why Reisi really didn't want him to die.
So, what do you think? Was it too random? Is there some way I can make it sound more fluid? I may or may not continue writing Mikoto-and-Reisi-centered drabbles like this . . . it all depends on your feedback, so please drop me a line! :)
