"Mommy!" Little Madeline cried out in happiness as she rushed over to her mother as she walked into the front door. Caleb grinned, and he suddenly felt as though everything were right again.
"You brought her back," Caleb said, beaming. "Thank you…um, both of you."
"Where's Uncle John?" Madeline demanded, looking at Rodney and Ronon.
"He had to go back to let my boss know that things here are okay now," Rodney explained, sounding a bit uncomfortable. He felt incredibly guilty about all that had happened, and he couldn't believe that he'd managed to get them into this mess in the first place. He'd put in a recommendation to those in charge to make sure that people were able to be kept more of an eye on, regarding Stargate matters.
"So are you guys staying long? Or are you heading back immediately?" Caleb asked, hugging his wife and daughter, and kissing Jeannie on her forehead while Madeline giggled as Jeannie tickled her a bit while holding her tightly between them. It was perfect, Caleb thought.
"It all depends on the stuff going on," Rodney said with a shrug. "Thankfully this happened when we weren't being attacked by replicators, or-"
"Replicators?" Caleb asked blankly, and Jeannie sighed.
"I'll explain later, hon. Right now, how about dinner? You guys can stay that long, right?"
"Yeah, sure. I'm starving," Ronon said before Rodney could open his mouth.
"You're always starving," Rodney retorted, moving towards the kitchen, and following his sister.
"What and you aren't?" Ronon said with a snort.
"Hey mommy, I like Uncle Ronon. His hair is cool," Madeline was saying as Jeannie was carrying her into the kitchen, and Caleb trailed after them. They were all home, he thought with a smile.
And that was all that mattered.
