Lacy here kids with my second Grey's fic. Wow, you all really liked the first one. I'm glad. So this one is for the second part of Crash Into Me. It sucks majorly that Lexie lost her patient considering how hard she worked to save him. And given that she's once again sitting alone, upset, this time with a dead body, Mark's gonna come talk to her. Helps this time that it was his patient too so he actually has reason to be there. And yeah, Cristina talks to her and Mark is with Callie and Hahn but hey, creative license exists for a reason! So, have fun!

Lexie stared at the bed where Nick's body had been laying long after he was taken away and his parents had come. She couldn't seem to make herself leave and she couldn't seem to stop herself from being angry at the hospital, the other doctors and herself for not being able to save him.
"We killed him," she said softly.
"It happens,"
Lexie looked up and saw Mark standing in the door way.
"It happens," he repeated as he walked in all the way. "it sucks and we wish to god we could prevent it but life doesn't always go how we want. In fact, it rarely goes how we want."
"Then why bother?" Lexie asked.
Mark leaned his hands on the bed. "We bother because even if we lose lives, we save them too. Sure the numbers are never even, we lose more then we save, but we bother because of the relief and gratefulness on the faces of not just the families but the paitents as well when they realize they get to live and fight another day."
Lexie looked up, trying to stop from crying. "He didn't deserve to die."
"They never do," Mark said softly. "the ones that go never do."
Lexie exhaled and looked at Mark. "So what do we do?"
Mark crossed his arms. "We change, go home, shower, drink, sleep, whatever and then come back and do it all over again."
"Why?"
Mark smiled. "Because this is what we were born to do. We're healers and even when life kicks us down, we get right back up." he held out his hand to Lexie. "Come on, I'll drive you home."
Lexie didn't hesitate. She took Mark's hand, allowed him to pull her up from her seat and followed him from the room.

Short as all get up but I wasn't aiming for long. I just wanted to focus on that one scene. So let me know what you think, flame policy stands and thanks so much for reading.
