There we stood, looking out across the forest, the sun just rising. It was the way we always did, every morning.

I was just gazing, as usual, at her. Beautiful beyond belief, graceful, stunning… She was wearing a pale blue silk dress that hung around her figure perfectly. She also wore the bracelet with sparkling diamonds around her wrist that I'd bought her.

"You're beautiful Rosie." I said, caressing her cheek with my thumb. My other hand was wrapped around hers and softly, gently I played with her fingers, tracing the diamonds on the only ring she never took off, her wedding ring.

She smiled her enchanting smile. Her perfect lips curved upwards and her eyes glinted. Today, her hair was up in an elegant twist, held together with a silvery pin. As she stood on the balcony, wind made her dress fly elegantly. Silky waves were spread around her, covering her legs. She was always elegant, of course, but I never saw how elegant until up close. She turned her head and kissed me passionately. She threw me of course, filling all my senses out of orbit.

Her perfect arms were now around my neck and I leaned further in, our kiss turning fiery, ardent, just like the flames in our silent hearts. When the kiss ended, I cradled her face in my hands.

"Have you any idea just how wonderful you are to me?" she whispered into my ear. She smiled and looked at me with eyes that seemed to be crying, eyes that would cry, had they had tears left in them.

"Have you any idea how much you mean to me?" I replied in turn, whilst feeling her lips softly brushing against my neck.

"I'm sorry." she frowned.

"Sorry? My darling why?" I panicked.

"I'm sorry I can never give you family, children."

"Rose, we've been through this! I have you, that's all I need."

She sighed. I knew how much it hurt her, it hurt her every day. Her immortality was a pain to her. How she could never have children, never sleep, never eat. Never return to her human ways. She had valued her life so much before being a vampire. She had everything. To herself, now, she was abnormal and she'd never be herself again.

"I suppose there's a good side to eternity," she finally said, holding me close.

"What side is that?" I asked, and couldn't help smiling, glad she was okay.

"I get to keep you forever… Literally…" she said, and smiled.
