Chapter 1

15, year old Issei Hyoudou did not know what he was seeing or what was even happening.

One moment he had been sound asleep and when he opened his eyes expecting to be in his bed he was inside some sort of cockpit surrounded by advance holographic screens, dressed in a strange pilot suit, with the screens showing the image of a red desert.

He wanted to shout and go into panic but instead he was strangely calm albeit very scared and confused.

Issei reviewed his situation and found it a bit amusing, he had been kidnapped from his home but instead of being held at ransom he had been stuffed inside some sort of sci-fi chamber and left in a desert of all places.

'My mind must have been tempered with too as I am not this calm.' Issei realised, wondering just what had been done to his mind or whether he was panicking so much that he had done a complete 360 into being calm.

Still, this was a boon for him and thus Issei decided to take stock of his situation.

'First where am I?' Issei thought and he went over the screens to find any clues, which was easy to find as there was a screen that showed what he was inside in.

He was inside something call a Aeon ACU, which according to the description was a war-machine capable of building massive factories that would in turn build an army for him, which he could use to destroy his enemies.

Issei could not believe it and thus he tested it. He pushed some buttons and the light screens and selected something called a T1 Mass Extractor and placed it on the holographic map. He was astonished to find that it was built in 10 seconds and according to the data Issei knew that it was larger than most buildings and manor.

"No way." Issei mumbled not believing his eyes. "I have to check it again." Yes he definitely needed to check the building time. So he selected multiple buildings from the menu and queued them up and began building them. The buildings were all completed in a few minutes time.

So, he now had an Aeon Air Factory, a Cybran Land Factory and a Seraphim Land Factory with an UEF power generator.

Issei found that he could even control the factories and when he gave them the command to build some units and in just 5 minutes time Issei had a small army of multiple spider tanks, engineers, mobile AA artillery, scout planes and bombers.

'So I can now build an entire army of war-machines which are all under my command.' Issei really did not have words to describe what he felt about his situation. On the plus side he had an army of war-machines; on the other he had an army of war-machines.

'Why could it not be that I could summon or create Kanmasu? That would have been infinitely better than what I have right now.' Issei thought, 'At least then I could have my own personal fleet of kanmasu to talk too.'

Leaving that aside Issei wanted to find out just where he was and thus after doing some sensor sweeps and using the bombers to scout the area alongside some scout planes

He watched in fascination as his scouts relayed the data back to him. He could actually see through the cameras of the scout planes, it was like multiple eyes at once yet perceiving the images generated with crystal clarity and in real time. No, saying that he perceived the images in real time was wrong as there was a bit of delay that measured in pico seconds.

The data was swift and Issei was soon able to find out to his horror that he was on Mars.

"How am I going to go home?" Issei wondered as he stared at the image of the Red Planet from space. Just as he was questioning himself how to escape from Mars a messaged popped up on the main screen.

Dear Issei Hyoudou

I write to you this letter to say that I am sorry for troubling you but not for putting you in this situation.

You see we are having some problems managing a few universes and due to these problems we have found out that the future of these universes specifically that of Earth is bleak and by bleak we mean apocalyptically bleak with no chance of hope. Thus we have decided to select some few individuals to help us in preventing this bleak future, one of which is yours truly.

As you may have noticed you are now in possession of an advance war-machine that is capable of creating a near infinite number of units. What you may not know is that in the database of the ACU you would find a library of techniques and recipes to create special concoctions that would grant you psychokinetic powers and how to train them to their absolute limits.

The purpose of this is to grant you massive individual powers and also grant you knowledge that would allow you to grant those have joined your cause powers to face of the coming storm.

That is not all the universe that you are in has its own brand of technology and has its own brand of powers which I recommend learning and incorporating them into your own techniques. The ACU, your suit and some of the devices listed in the database would help in that regard as everything you see and experience it would not only help you scan the powers and technology of the locals but also dissect them and allow you to create your own versions of it.

As for the threat, Earth faces many as even in the near future the amount of threats it face are numerous and appear so near rapidly that it is just a never-ending chain of apocalypse one that makes the next one worse and worse.

The threats would start from Earth but it does not simply end there as space itself would prove hostile which would lead to multiple invasions from space. Do not hope to find allies among alien kind in this universe most would only give you sympathy but no help.

There may be some that are truly kind and willing to help but those would only turn into victims if you involve them. Frankly, it is better for you to leave them and try to solve the matter yourself.

Earth would also not only face threats from within its atmosphere and threats from space but from other universes as the barrier between the universes is quite thin and an annoying goddess of underworld would soon breach this barrier and unwittingly permanently connect the two universes and open gateways to many more universes which would allow many cosmic horrors to send their agents into this realm.

To make matters worse the humans of this universe are some of the worst lot and you would often find yourself questioning whether they are worth saving or not. But, remember Issei that even among them are innocent souls that deserve to be saved and thus I beg you to not lose hope and forge a new dawn for them.

It may be a burden too great for you but you don't have to bear it alone. Learn, adapt and find allies to face the coming storm. So Issei take care and grow strong and lead Earth to a new age of prosperity.

Sincerely
God of Hope, T.

"Okay. T-that's explains things…" Issei stuttered then fainted, the revelation being too much to bear.

When he came too, the message was still there. The writing was still the same along with the warning. He had been chosen to save the world and all Issei could do was stare at the message and think 'how'.

Really how was he supposed to save Earth when he was on Mars and several million km away from Earth?

"I have to build a spaceship." Issei mumbled, "I have to build a spaceship. That is the most logical path I can take." Yes, that was going to be his next step.

So Issei started going through the ship designs present in the database and quickly found some simple design schemes. The ship themselves were nothing special as they were just civilian ships but they could still move at 55 ly/hr which made them damn fast and could even go at .95c at sub-light speeds. The ships were thus quite good and massive manoeuvrability but being civilian ships they had paper thin armour and had no shields or weapons to speak off.

"Not good. I am going to have to upgrade the ships and give them some proper weapons and armours or else anyone with orbital superiority could easily pound my ground units into oblivion." Issei might not be a genius but he had some dealings with Gundam and Macross fans and thus knew the value of orbital-superiority. He may have gone to argue about best girl but he had often found himself arguing about the schematics and big-honking-guns and even bigger-yields.

'Still can't believe that it was Gundam that got me into Warhammer.' Seriously, how had he gone from debating about best girl on a forum to debating which Gundam could destroy Warlord-Class Mars with him being on the 40K side, how?

Leaving that aside, Issei now had to think about building a ship and fit it in with as much armour and guns as possible while making it viable for both space and ground side engagements. For while the ship may get him back to Earth, what he needed was a warship not a simple transport ship as according to the message he was soon going to be facing aliens and to face of their space assets he needed space capable warships.

Issei was not sure whether he should be going a carrier heavy space-fleet or full Battleship type fleet. While carriers were undisputed masters of water based naval warfare, he was not sure of their viability in space, so Issei was going for a Battleship heavy fleet while he would make carriers that were more like ship-factories that pumped out frigates, destroyers and Battlecruisers.

Issei was also going to use the 40k ship classes to scale things and while that might seem overkill, he might as well go all out if Earth was really going to face apocalypse after apocalypse.

As Issei was in the process of creating blueprints for a space fleet, he saw that his scouts had located something on Mars.

It was a giant structure that stretched for miles and while Issei wanted to say that it was natural, it looked to asymmetrical to be a natural formation and most importantly Issei saw several things coming out of the structure, one that Issei easily recognised.

Mars had life on it and Issei recognise them and came to realise the magnitude of the threat that earth was facing.

Earth was facing an alien invasion more specifically an invasion from a race that did not even considered humanity as alive. The invasion would begin with a small discovery from mars and end with humanity being pushed to the brink of extinction.

"I am in god-damn Muv Luv!" Issei screamed slamming his hands on the console.

The BETA, were coming to Earth and Issei was now tasked with fighting it but the most scary part was not the utterly ruthless nature of the BETA that Issei had to face, it was the fact that there would be threats that would be equal or even worse than the BETA and Issei had to fight them all.

"And it would be one after another." Issei mumbled as he saw the BETAs spot his scouts and were rushing towards them. Issei quickly recalled his scouts but that just lead the BETA to his position.

"I never should have read those VNs." Issei mumbled as he hastily started building engineers and began erecting walls around his base and set up multiple point base defences. He small army of Mechmarines, were wrecking the oncoming BETA swarm with their twin Iowa-class cannons which was slaughtering the BETAs of all kinds, even his land scouts were killing the BETA with ease.

Really a 150mm cannon should not fire like it was a machine gun and a scout unit should not be able to kill an elite unit like the Fort-class BETA with such ease.

Still it was making Issei's life very easy and he was massing lots of Mechmarines and Flares, with the Mechmarines providing pin point shots killing any Laser Class they could find and the Flares easily killing scores of BETA with their sonic weaponry which was very effective against the hordes of BETA, as they did splash damage. They were being back by the MA12 Striker tanks which were over penetrating and killing multiple BETAs at once and the Fervor mobile artillery which were raining down artillery shells on the huge hoard while Issei was busy constructing Point Based Defences and erecting huge walls.

It took him some minutes to set up some adequate PBDs around the base and by the time he was done he had only lost around 10 Snoops which were killed by some laser-classes early on, as for the rest they had some damage dealt to them but it was not nothing as the damaged was easily repaired in a few moments time and all the bots were ready to go.

Issei still was not letting his guard down as he knew that the BETA were not an easy opponent to beat and surely he felt the ground tremble as several carrier class burst forth but were quickly killed by the point based defences as the plasma guns seared the massive worm-like BETA and killed all their occupants before they could be disgorged.

"And that completes the Radar tower." Issei said as he finally had some radar coverage now that the radar tower, one which he should have set up ages ago but didn't due to not knowing that he had one or that it was supposed to allow him to have a better sense of the battlefield.

Looking at the map Issei was now able to get a better idea on just how many BETA he was facing and could only think one thing. "Maybe I should turn off the radar tower." Issei mumbled stiffly as he saw the map which showed that his base was practically surrounded by hordes of BETA that stretched for miles, which somehow made his base seem like a small island surrounded by a sea of BETA.

Still Issei was able to get some breathing room as his PBDs were killing BETA by the hundreds with the bodies being vaporised or blown to smithereens with each subsequent shots and thus there was not a huge wall of BETA bodies surrounding his base though there was a huge outline of blood that marked the max range of the PBDs and the BETA were trying their best to simply overwhelm the defences with sheer numbers and failing miserably.

Now that the Radar tower was up the range of the PBDs had increased using the radar to hit the BETA at longer ranges and effectively increasing their killing range by three times though it was not as even as before due to the terrain the PBDs had reduced range and most BETA were now converging from those areas.

To counter that Issei simply put built more walls and PBDs a bit further than the first line of defences he had erected.

"Should I press the attack?" Issei wondered as he saw the BETA being killed by the PBDs and wondered if he should move slowly and expand his base and set up more PBDs and cover more ground.

"No, I still have some 18 days before the BETA are able to strategize and counter my defences and in that time I should familiarise myself with the systems and everything so that the BETA have less chance of adapting to my strategies."

Really the radar tower had increased the effectiveness of his PBDs by nearly 5 times and Issei wanted to know what other things he had in his arsenal that would increase the overall effectiveness of his weapons.

"I wonder what I am going to find in the database." Issei mused as he browsed through the database of his ACU. There were lots of schematics present in the database but most of them were overkill when facing the BETA and some were just so overkill that Issei hoped that he would never have to build those units.

Still it assured him that he would have units to keep on countering the BETA at every turn if they escalated.

"Well that takes care of the BETA. Now where is the file that had information on the psychic powers." Now that Issei was not busy defending his base and had some assurance that the BETA would not overrun him and that he would have units capable of bringing them down. Issei shifted his focus on finding the files that would give him psychic powers.

While Issei now felt quite confident facing off the BETA he knew that he would not always be in his ACU and had to get out of his ACU to take care of some of the more indigenous threats on Earth. There was also the fact that his ACU is just too big and easily noticeable which would not allow Issei to freely move around and he knew just how much of a danger he would be in if he left the confines of his ACU.

Thus Issei knew he had to quickly train himself and get some major powers that would allow him to survive when he was on foot.

"While I am happy that I am going to get superpowers I am not going to enjoy the fact that I have to face alien abominations." Issei lamented as he open the file called 'Psychic-powers and You.' which contained the files which had the techniques and special concoctions that would allow him to gain psychic powers.

Issei knew that someone was mocking him by the way the file name had a smiley face emoji but chose to disregard it and read through the list.

"Hmmn, it seems that the person really went all out in giving superpowers." Issei said marvelling at how many superpower formulae were there and how they crafted to not only work by synergise with the other formulae and not kill the user via overdose or cause any mutations.

"Now time to concoct them. First I'll start with the physical enhancement formulae." While quickly getting psychic powers was enticing Issei wanted to increase his physical capabilities first as he wanted to be able to have better reflexes and hand-eye coordination to better control his units.

"According to the formulae, an individual could take it several times and with each dose increasing my strength, reflexes, bones strength and even improving my digestive system to the point that it would allow me to not only eat even poison without adverse effects but also go without food for a greater period of time. The only downside is that each dose would be less effective than the last." it was simple and easy enough to understand and Issei began to concoct the first dose of formula.

The formula was done and Issei filled it up in a small vial.

"Blue huh, I thought it would be red." Issei said holding the vial in his hand, a soft blue liquid that seemed like it was glowing due to the light of screens present in the cockpit. Issei let out a sighed and drank the formula in one gulp.

Issei then bared his teeth and clenched the seat of his cockpit prepared to bear the pain of drinking the formulae.

A few minutes passed by as Issei prepared for the pain, but nothing happened.

"Huh, nothing happened?" Issei questioned himself, "But I was sure that I should be feeling some pain, it was written right there in the formu-" Issei was not able to complete his sentence as he felt a strong shock wreck his body. His muscles contracting tightly and his nerves felt like they were on fire.

Issei wanted to scream by his mouth refused to move as his eyes were wide open and Issei saw his reflection from one of the screens. Veins and blood vessels were bulging out of the exposed parts of his skin and even the blood vessels in his eyes were clearly visible as they changed from red to blue and slowly turned to red again.

Issei felt the world slow down and felt himself moving at a faster pace as he felt his heartbeat thump faster and faster before it slowed down and returned to normal. The pain fading away and Issei was felt the world return to normal.

The total time elapse was just 10 seconds but for Issei it had felt like hours.

But still the pain meant that the formula worked, Issei wanted to go out and try it and he almost left the cockpit to until he heard the sound of his PBDs rapidly firing on the hordes of BETAs.

"Right I had almost forgotten about them." Issei could not help but sweatdrop at that, the BETA were not posing him any threat that he had completely forgotten about them as he did his own thing.

Issei really wanted to go out and try out his new capabilities but the BETA would not let him do that, he also did not want to drink another concoction just yet as the feeling of his nerves being on fire and his muscles contracting was still quite fresh in his mind and Issei felt that he would not be forgetting that feeling anytime soon.

"I guess I'll check what I can do with the ACU and the other units." Yeah that seems like a save path, so Issei once again began browsing the database.

He found several things from reading the description of the units, "So I can upgrade the ACU and all the units including the factories too. That's nice." Issei also found a little thing called economy, too. "Wait what does it mean that I can build faster if I have a good economy?" reading further Issei found that it said that if he had good mass and energy income his units would not only be built faster but also repair faster too and all upgrades would be done in record time.

Checking his screen and seeing that his economy was in red Issei found that his PBDs were actually firing three times slower than their usual fire rate and it was only due to their splash damage and there being so many of them that he was not overwhelmed yet.

"This is bullshit." Issei seethed as he went ahead and began setting up his economy by erecting mass extractors and building power generators. "This is utterly bullshit!" Issei raged as he saw the PBDs increase their rate of fire now that they had enough energy to power their system and increase their effectiveness by several times and even the radar tower's range seemed to have gotten a huge leap as it now covered an area that was almost equivalent to that of the European continent.

"Someone should have really given me the manual for this thing." Issei seethed as he saw his small base defences slaughter the BETA whose strategy was just keep charging at the enemy. The damage dealt by the Laser-class and Heavy Laser class was negligible as the point base defences easily recovered from the damage now that their self-repair system were working at full capacity.

Still Issei kept his engineers nearby in case one of the PBDs suffered heavy damage to either repair the PBD in question or build a new one in case the PBD was destroyed.

Despite being in such an advantageous situation Issei could not help but feel angry as if he knew about this little titbit he could have easily gone on to the attack before and even destroyed the first Hive before they knew about his existence and comfortably grow in the shadows.

But now, he was stuck defending his base as all the BETAs on the planet were converging on his position.

"I can still bring this around." Issei mumbled as he checked his unit list. "I just have to destroy all the nearby hives." Yes, he was going to go on the offence and Issei was not going to let the BETA keep him in his base. Even though his defences were strong Issei was not going to take the chance of them collapsing or the BETA somehow completely circumventing the defences altogether. Much was still unknown by the BETA and even the VN was not too clear on what the High end hives were capable of and almost all the Hives on Mars were greater than phase 6 so their capabilities would be equally be powerful.

Thus Issei was going to build an army and check the defences of the Hives and see if he could bring them down using T1 units or whether he would have to go to T2 and T3 to destroy them all.

Before that Issei decided to do some preparations, "I should build and upgrade as many factories as possible. Get some T3 engineers and economy running and keep them on standby in case I need to build some higher tier units and defences in a hurry."

The database had some good strategies as well and Issei found them quite interesting, "I think I would build some Continentals to facilitate the airdrops and using Mechmarines use it as a ghetto-gunship."

It was a nice thought and the shields of the gunship were powerful enough to protect the Mechmarines which could easily overwhelm any hordes of BETA and not even the Laser-Classes would be able to do anything to them due to the shields.

The fact that the Continental was one km in length would be a problem when he wants them to land as there was not much space which meant that Issei had to expand in order to load his army and assault the hives.

"That is fine." Issei mumbled as he began upgrading his ACU and his factories, all of them.

For the ACU he gave it a double layer shield with each having 135000 points worth of shielding, several engineering boosters to build things +200 times faster, Quantum Disruptor Enhancements that increased the damage of the cannons on the ACU by 20 times, shoulder mounted rapid fire Missile launchers with no reload time and a Paragon Resource Allocation system which solved his economy problems quite well.

Issei really was smacking his head on the console of not seeing that last upgrade soon as it solve majority of his problems and let him not worry about building up an economy. "Still all of this upgrades is going to take time." Issei mumbled looking at the timer on his screen which read 135:23 minutes to completion, which was two hours and fifteen minutes. It was going to a long time and Issei suddenly felt very tired.

"I should get a nap." Issei said yawning as he saw the timer tick down. "Yes I should really get some rest." It was going to be a long wait and Issei was quite tired of it all. The revelation the fight the enhancement and all, it really took a massive toll on him both physically and mentally and thus Issei really wanted to get some sleep.

But before he went to sleep Issei decided to set up some T2 PBDs in case the BETAs escalate and thus he set up multiple Cerberus point base defences and set some Pillars, Mongoose, Rhinos and Obsidians on patrol duty.

"Two more hours and I am going to conquer Mars." Issei mumbled as he watched the timer, his eyes growing heavy, "Two more hours before I turn Alternative to Extra. This I promise." He vowed as sleep took him.
