Sell My Soul
A Drag Me to Hell fanfic
or "alternate ending" if you will
by LDEJRuff
Author's note: I have not seen the film in its entirety, even though I have read the Wikipedia article and saw a few scenes, but I just wanted to give my own ending with a question: What would happen if Clayton did the unthinkable to spare Christine's life?
Clay waited at the train station for Christine. He put his hand in his pocket and sighed.
"Hey," Christine's voice got his attention.
She smiled at him, coming up to him, wearing her new blue coat.
"Oh, hey," Clay replied, giving her a hug. "I'm so glad you're here. There are so many things I want to tell you..."
"Wait, wait, wait," Christine cut him off. "There's something I want to say while I have it straight in my head." Although she sounded a bit serious, her smile never faded.
"Okay, go ahead," Clay nodded.
"You never stopped believing in me," she began sincerely. Her smile changed to a serious, honest look. "Thank you for that."
Clay listened.
"And there's something else," she continued. "Something I-I couldn't admit to you before..."
Clay frowned a bit, wondering what she was going to tell her.
"I could've given Mrs. Ganush an extension on her loan," she admitted. "But I didn't. It was my decision...and it was wrong of me." She was glad to have the seemingly-now-broken curse behind her.
A moment of silence, and the two glanced at each other. Afterwards, he hugged her.
Clay pulled away a bit, resting his forehead on hers. "You've such a good heart," he whispered. "You're so beautiful right now."
Christine smiled, then showed off her coat. "Do you like my new coat?" she asked.
"I do," Clay answered. "I really do. What happened to the old one, though?"
"I threw it out," Christine responded, looking at him, "and I never want to see it again."
Clay looked so disappointed and sad, looking at her back.
"Christine," he said, "there's something important I need to say to you."
At that moment, he pulled out a white envelope. She stood wide-eyed as he pulled out a button. It was the cursed one from her old coat. She was shocked and horrified at the sight of it.
"I found this in my car," Clay began, "and showed it to Rham. He suggested I sell my soul to save yours. So...I did."
"You what?" Christine whispered. "How could you..."
"I did it to save you, Chris," he interrupted. "I didn't want you to suffer. So now, it's coming for me."
Christine backed away a bit after what he just said.
Just then, the floor around Clay began to break, and black, ugly hands reached up for him. The hands grabbed Clay as he kneeled, attempting to drag him to Hell in Christine's stead.
"Clay, no!" Christine shouted.
"I love you, Chris," Clay said, accepting his fate at the hands of the Lamia.
"CLAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYY!" Christine cried, reaching out for him, as tears filled her eyes.
Clay's face began to dessicate until it started to smoulder as the Lamia dragged him to Hell, and the floor pulled itself back together. Christine cried tears of sadness as her now-dead boyfriend was dragged in her stead...
