Renly Baratheon

The first time Renly Baratheon had seen young Loras Tyrell, he knew it was his heart's desire to be with him. Renly had known he was gay since he was ten years old, almost a man grown. He had thought his brother Stannis would understand, so he went to
him for guidance. He did not receive the guidance he wished, however. Stannis had been disgusted at his sexuality and and sent him away. The memory was still fresh in Renly's head.

"Please,Stannis. Help me. I'm your brother,"he had pleaded. But Stannis would hear none of it. His cold black eyes had shown no mercy, only stubbornness.

"No blood of mine, no true blood of mine would be this way. I should send you off to the Wall. You could do real good there, rather than whimper to me."His tone was harsh and final. For years afterwards, Renly had avoided all his family,
terrified that Stannis's threat was true, and guards would be waiting to drag him off. It had never happened though. However, Stannis held a deep-rooted disgust for the person he once called brother.

Today, he had come to a tourney to see Loras ride. People had bet on the Kingslayer, Ser Jaime Lannister to unseat him, but Renly had placed five thousand golden dragons on Ser Loras, the Knight of Flowers. As he unseated his first opponent, Ser Barristan
the Bold, he tossed white roses to the young maidens in the audience, but tossed a red rose to Sansa Stark, and winked, before riding off again. Renly, sitting right in front of her, stiffened. Maybe he had been wrong about Loras after all. But then
came a soft tap on his shoulder, causing him to turn around, looking to see who it was. Sansa Stark was behind him, her head bowed, face red.

"Lord Renly," she said, looking up.

Renly smiled politely, nodding. "My Lady Stark, is there something I may do for you?" She shook her head quickly and held out the rose.

"This was meant for you, My Lord. He couldn't throw it directly to you without," she hesitated, thinking for the right word. "Without causing, anger in the audience." She dipped her head once more and was off, disappearing to King Joffrey's side.
