F.E.E.L.S
The blood cascaded like an endless river down the front of her chest. The numerous inflicted cuts that adorned her chest and stomach should have caused the blonde woman alarm. Instead, her lone eye was transfixed on the man cackling wildly above her. His wild green eyes seemed to be focused on the red coating her body. As much as she wanted to cry, she held herself back. She kept her expression as calm as she could, even though her pale hands shook with as much fear as a deer trapped in headlights.
Another cut.
Another stream.
Another chuckle.
Another breathless gasp.
She knew by the time he had grasped reality, Marie's life would be slowly fading away. As much as she wanted to stop. As much as she wanted to shake him and grab him and tell him how much she loved him, she couldn't.
If her life had to be lost to have him grasp onto reality, for good, then it was worth it. All this pain was worth it for him to have a better life.
Another cut.
Another wince.
Another mad cackle.
Struggling with her breathing, Marie let her head drop to the side. Sighing out softly as her breaths came in short gasps, Marie transfixed her eye on Stein as he watched the blood flow quickly from her side. She tried, in vain, to speak to him. To get him to look at her; to see how much he was losing because of his insanity.
But a part of her didn't want to. A small part of her wanted to die. And it scared the normal her.
Marie loved life. She loved helping people. But letting herself die to help her lover?
That was something entirely terrifying for the blonde woman.
Another cut.
Another soft cry.
Another loud cackle.
Another...wail?
Suddenly, the stitched hands stopped their cutting as a shrill cry pierced the room. Blinking slowly, Marie glanced over to see Stein visibly shaking. The bloody scalpel he held dropped to the floor with a loud clatter, as his sharp green eyes stared down at the hammer weapon's torn body.
"...Marie?"
Hearing his soft voice beyond the loud cries made Marie blink blearily. Struggling to stay awake, Marie gave a small nod as she stared sadly up at her husband to be.
"Franken.."
His name barely escaped her lips as the said man began furiously scrambling around the room. Litters of bandages came her way, along with various necessities to treat her deep wounds.
The crying increased to screams and Marie sobbed softly. Her body shook as she struggled to withhold herself from screaming in frustration.
Another tear.
Another stitch.
Another sob.
Stein mumbled under his breath as he wound bandage, after bandage across her body. Even as the cries continued around them, the man focused intently on fixing the woman laying on the table. His hands shook terribly.
And that was when Marie knew that he realized the extent of what he had done.
"Franken.."
"Be quiet." His voice was stern like it always was. The intimidating voice that terrified others made Marie breathe out slowly. As much as she wanted to pretend that everything was alright, the coldness that slowly began to creep into her was starting to worry her.
That, and their son was screaming like there was no tomorrow.
"Franken. Nolan needs you. Please. Just get him. Bring him to me." Her voice shook as tears gathered into her eyes. She tried to reach for his hand, to grab his attention, but he easily pushed her hand aside as he continued his work.
"He'll be fine."
Marie arched her back in pain as Stein began to hurriedly stitch her skin back together. Her cries went unheard over the screams of their young son. And it broke her heart.
It hurt more than the vicious way Stein was trying to repair her body.
"Franken..I love you.."
With a small gasp, Marie felt her eyes close slowly and her body sag to the side.
The last thing she heard, was Stein screaming her name.
Another body.
Another death.
Another motherless child.
