A/N: Make sure to read the second author's note at the end for updates on my other two stories!
Mercy
I looked away. The man thrashed and screamed as the hundreds of razor sharp ice shards pierced his flesh. Muscles tore, bones cracked. It was a sickening symphony. Katara her face expressionless, just stared at him, cries of pain ripping through his chest, cries for mercy and for her to spare him.
"You didn't spare her." She stated plainly. "Why should I grant you the same luxury that you denied my mother?" She then formed one more dagger and dragged it across his throat.
All was silent but the patter of the rain on the dirt road that was turning to mud fast. Katara turned and walked away. In the distance I could hear her whistling that song Uncle used to sing for money. She sounded almost happy. And it scared me.
Though I was tempted to follow, I stayed still. His lifeless eyes bore into mine. I would never forget those eyes. And I will never forget Katara's idea of mercy.
A/N: Freaky! I know that Katara was strong enough not to kill the guy that killed her mom but, I couldn't resist doing this. Zuko seems really creeped out even though, in the show, it was his idea to find the guy. I'm sorry if this is a little too OOC for you guys but, this story had to be written sometime!
Updates on my story Whatever It Takes (formerly known as Keep Holding On): Yeah, that story is in desperate need of an extreme plot makeover. So I'm giving it one! Sorry if you were looking forward to seeing how Zuko and Katara escaped the island and went to live in Omashu (which totally happens in the remake) and Zuko beating the crap out of Aang for messing with his woman (which also happens in the remake). You peeps will just have to wait!
