Brigands, riding horses, traveled down an old beaten path. Swords on their hips, they wanted to attack the near by village. Once the village came in sight, they sped up. Someone stepped in front of them blocking their path. He was obviously a demon. His long hair was a dark purple, almost black, color. His eyes glowed yellow; the irises were a red-violet. His skin was a pasty white, giving him the appearance of death. His devil horns looked as if they were ivory. He was a fearsome looking demon, but he was richly dressed and it would fetch a pretty price, even if they were stained red.

"Kill the demon men!" The leader yelled out. All of them became excited, remembering the rule; whoever killed him would get the largest share. They could not finish their next thought. All of them were dead, decapitated, including the horses. Standing on the opposite side stood the demon smirking and holding the leaders blood-drenched head in his hand.

"Fools. No one can even touch the great demon Sou'unga!" Sou'unga let the head drop to the ground as he left. Mortal blood drenched him but he didn't care. In his mind he hadn't killed enough. His problem was that mortals were getting boring. Sure he loved to hear the screams and pleas they made as they faced death, but he wasn't tapping into his full power. Mortals alone will not help him reach his goal.

Unknown to him, two pairs of eyes followed his every move. Hiding in the trees were two women. One was a demon, close to the same stature as Sou'unga. The other was a mortal priestess.

"Is that him Koroko?" The demoness asked.

"Yes." Koroko's blue eyes never left his back. She was very beautiful. Her knee-length black hair was pulled back and was held by a piece of rope. Her blue dress was more Chinese than Japanese, but fit her nicely. Her bare feet dangled from the tree branch she was sitting on. All her weapons were hidden on the ground below her.

"Rena, why did you agree to help me?" Koroko asked, almost as if she already knew the answer.

Rena was the demoness standing next to her. She had auburn eyes that sent a chill down your spine, with just a glance. Her mid-night black hair was cut to cover the left side of her face; it blew freely in the wind. Underneath her right eye was a crescent moon, facing the right, and a dot, symbolizing a star, on the open side, just outside of its reach. Her strong arms were folded across her chest. Unlike Sou'unga, she was dressed almost like a mortal villager.

Rena didn't have to think about her answer. "We both want the same things. He's in my way."

"If this is true," Koroko said turning to her, "then I will have to kill you one day too."

"Bring it on."
