Coming to think of it Nate would have a field day if he ever discovered.

Something that will never happen.

Never.

He hopes so.

It s not his fault. This time anyway.

Sam and him have been running up and down town searching for a wanabe terrorist, a kid smart as hell but naive and easily catchy if it wasn t for the Russian mob hunting him down. Don t ask. Just don t. With all the adrenaline running in his blood and bruises, never crossed his mind the idea of looking at the calendar. Callen never understood the catch of birthdays, every kid he ever met loved them with a fevor that is scary, but like he once said to Hetty the cup for him is half empty, meaning he only saw birthdays as any other day. After all for someone who don t know his name a day to celebrate birth doesn t have much attraction.

Still, it hurt.

Since coming to work on OSP Callen had a party every year, a surprise one because like Hetty he didn t like birthdays, but after the first he could see the draw. All of the agents came for his first. Renko, Macy, Sam and many other who are either transfered or dead. Now for four years his birth has been celebrated but this year it appears everyone forgot, just like him.

It shouldn t hurt this much.

Alone in the OSP, staring at the calendar and trying to scare it for a change of date, Callen realizes something.

He s not hurt because they forgot. He did too. He s hurt because they should already made it home and checked their calendars meaning they realized which day it is.

And none called, if only to say happy birthday.

Not Hetty.

Sam.

Kensi.

Gibbs.

Eric.

Renko.

None. This time he realizes how lonely it really feels when your birthday is forgotten by your family and he can compute with the kids on the orphanage which got sad because their birthday didn t matter.

Taking ice and booze, Callen dragged himself to the floor. A shot burned his throat, easing his mind into the tense vigilance that is default. He took shot after shot, and only remembers one thing from that night of weakness.

"Happy Birthday, G Callen"

So? What you guys think?
