Stars

Jack and Rapunzel laid side by side on a heap of snow, the two spirits staring up into the sky, trying to point out as many constellations as possible, Rapunzel, of course, winning from having tracked stars her entire mortal life.

"No, that's the big dipper," she said patiently as she pointed to the right constellation.

Jack groaned, "I still can't see it, I feel so stupid."

Rapunzel frowned at this, propping up to the side so she was facing him, "You're not stupid Jack Frost," she said seriously, then smiled and dropped back onto the ground, "Okay, how 'bout this? Do you see the huge snowflake?" she asked.

Jack searched for awhile before grinning, "Yep. Right there," he said happily as he traced the out line with his hand.

"Good," she smiled, "See, you're not stupid."

Jack grinned, "It's just easier to spot since it's my symbol."

Rapunzel pursed her lips, "I thought your symbol was the moon."

"Really? Why?" he asked, curious.

She shrugged, "You're so much like the moon, giving off light and yet no one really appreciates you or sees you for how beautiful you are," she said, sadness lacing her tone.

Jack softened at that before grinning happily, "Well then, you must be the sun then. You shine beautifully and light up the whole world and I, in turn, reflect your light."

"I don't want to be the sun," Rapunzel stated in a matter of fact tone, "I'd rather be a star."

A puzzled expression crossed Jack's face, "Why not?"

"Because, if I'm the sun and you're the moon, I would have to be apart from you but if I was a star I could always be with you," she replied then realized what she had said and blushed.

Jack smiled affectionately at her, "Well then, you can be a star," he said in a very serious tone, then broke out into a wide grin, "But that means you'll have to promise that you'll never leave me."

She blushed and gave him a quick peck on the lips, "Never," she promised and the adoration in her tone made a small pink blush edge it's way onto his pale skin.

Jack grinned, "Well then, since you'll never leave me, you won't mind if I give you this," he said as he pulled out something from his hoddie pocket and handed it to her.

Rapunzel gasped as she saw the velvet box and looked at Jack with shining eyes as he motioned for her to open it. Gingerly, she opened the box and in it, she saw the most beautiful diamond ring ever.

"Jack," she choked, "Are you...?"

Jacked smiled that beautiful smile of his and helped her stand up before kneeling in front of her, "Rapunzel Corona, will you marry me?" he asked, his eyes gleaming with hope.

Tears started to form at the sides of her eyes as she nodded her head, her mouth opened, but no words came out, finally, she jumped into Jack's arms and laughed, "Of course Jack, of course I'll marry you," she breathed.

Jack laughed in relief and slipped the ring on her finger before picking her up and kissed her while spinning her around. And right there, under the starry night sky, they sealed their future.
