Colors swirled past my vision. I was spinning, no idea how fast. The strange vortex of color, light, and sound made it hard to judge distance and my space relative to what I was falling through.

I should have been panicked. I had friends! Family! What would happen if they... if who, exactly? I really started to get more panicked as I realized I couldn't remember anything. My name? Nope. Nothing came to mind when I thought about my past. I clenched my fists and gritted my teeth as I tried to rationalize what was going on.

As I opened my eyes after this contemplation, I noticed an opening at the end of the vortex. The swirling light seems to be drawn to it, and it was taking me there as well. The hole was pitch black, and the light was spilling out into what lay beyond. The light started to speed up, almost as if being propelled by an unseen force.

As I was carried closer to the hole, my vantage point changed as I was able to peek out to see outside. Far away on a rocky outlook, a colorful group of figures could be seen. I squinted and held my hands up to my face as the light picked up further speed, and promptly gave up trying to discern more details from this far away. I turned back and tried to focus on the situation at hand. I was rapidly approaching the hole that led to where that group was, but exactly where that was eluded me.

I was now pretty close to the hole, and just the tiniest bit afraid, seeing as my new vantage point allowed me to see that the hole was high up. really high up. And even if it was water below me, that was still gonna hurt. I subconsciously started to sort-of crab walk backward, and the feelings of fear grew too much and I let out a quiet plea to whatever higher power was there to please just give me a pass this once. As I resigned myself to the fate of bellyflopping so hard I split in two, another object in the vortex ran into me. I craned my neck to see what it was and I was startled to see a girl. Mind you, this was a life or death (mostly death) situation, otherwise, I might have asked her out on a date. She was really pretty, and also on nearly on top of me, and was looking about as scared as I felt. We locked eyes, and through the wind in my ears, I heard her starting to make out a sentence.

As I started furiously crab-walking backward to try and get closer, another object whizzed past us and sent us spinning around the hole, which was really disorienting, because from where I had been, I could see the world right side up. Gravity didn't really seem to work here though, so now I was spinning around and constantly losing sight of the now rapidly approaching hole. The figure that hit us continued to glide down towards the hole and would reach it much sooner than us. I didn't really give it another thought.

It's just the vortex doing its vortex thing, right?

The girl was near me though, and she was stretching out her hand towards me, almost desperately but showing severe resolve. I stretched my hand out to meet hers, writhing to get into a better position to try and grasp her hand. As I reached further, I noticed a dramatic shift in the speed of the light. It had started to speed up to an alarmingly fast rate. At this speed, we would be shot like bullets through the hole, rather than fall out slowly as I had anticipated. I continued to reach for the girl's hand, now just inches away. Our fingers brushed, and as I was about to savor the moment of victory I turned and saw the hole was right in front of me. Right before reaching the edge that led to this other world, the light sped to an almost incalculable velocity, and the resulting whiplash as I shot out over the water made everything turn black.

My last thought as I tumbled aimlessly towards the cliffs was that there were worse ways to go than being knocked out.
