Prologue
It felt like only days had passed since that night when Plato and Victoria did the mating dance, but it had actually been a few months. It turned out that soon after the Jellicles ball that Grizabella had been chosen, Victoria was given the news that she and Plato were going to have a litter of kittens. After that, they seemed to always be on cloud nine, blessed with the thoughts of being parents. After that it seemed that time flew by as she got larger and larger and their love grew stronger and stronger.
The fateful night of the birth soon came, and the to be father and Mistoffelees, who was Victoria's brother, found themselves waiting outside of JennyAnyDots den for the news on the kittens. It seemed that the whole yard was on edge since that this was the first litter to be delivered in years.
The anticipation grew as more and more time began to pass, thinking that something could be going wrong inside. But these fears were set aside as the cries of three healthy newborn kittens filled the yard.
Misto and Plato beamed when they heard this, and made an attempt to dash inside the den. But the large Gumbie cat blocked their way inside.
"Wait until we are ready," was all she said as she went back inside and blocked the doorway with some large object.
"Is she trying to give us a heart attack?" Misto asked as he paced around.
"I'm going to have a panic attack!" Plato said as he ran his paws through his fur. "What if something happened to Vicky? What if something is wrong with the kits?"
"They sounded fine; they just need to clean up the mess."
So after a little wile, Jenny finally came back and moved the large object out of the doorway to let them in. Plato ran inside and right to his mates beside where he spotted three squirming bundles in her arms.
"Ah Vicky, my love and life," he said as he kneeled down by her bedside. "How are you doing?"
"I'm so tired," she said. "So tired, I just want to sleep."
"I will take the kittens so you can rest."
"Thank you."
Plato picked up the three little newborns and walked over to Mistoffelees and Jenny.
"She needs her rest," he said as he handed a kit to Misto. "Can you tell me when she wakes up so we can name them?" he asked Jenny.
"Of course dearie," she said.
So he and the magician both went outside to think of some names for the new members of the tribe.
"First, we need to know the genders," Plato said. Up till now, the kittens had been wrapped up tightly in the blankets so not to get too cold in their first hours, so he didn't know what they exactly looked like. He gently unwrapped the kitten in his arms, and Misto did the same, but they were both shocked with what they saw.
They all looked nothing like Plato.
