Disclaimer: The West Wing and characters belong to Aaron Sorkin. Well it
used to I think somebody else has it now.
AN: I totally love Josh/Donna pairings and I've finally decided to write one of my own. This is my first ever West Wing fic so please tell me what you think.
Donna Moss sighed as she looked out the window. Night had just come and it was raining cats and dogs. It was times like these she wished she could crawl under the covers but when you worked in the White House you just didn't have time for something like that.
She looked up as she saw Josh walk in. "we're you just outside?"
"I'm wet for a reason I had a meeting on the Hill and I didn't run in the building fast enough" he smiled, "how are you?"
Donna was amazed at how relaxed he seemed but it had been easier between the two of them ever since Amy had gotten fired, and Josh had gotten out of that mess with the senator who decided to switch parties.
"I'm great how are you Josh?"
"I'm great that senator is in trouble with the citizens of his state, apparently his decision to switch parties isn't sitting well, so that takes the heat of me".
"And puts it on Leo" Donna replied.
The smile vanished from Josh's face. "Did you have to mention the name Leo?"
"He's looking for you Josh".
"Oh I'm sure he is now that he's the one in trouble".
"He does care about you".
"Right now I can't say the same about him".
Donna sighed, "Let's change the subject".
"Good idea would you like to eat dinner with me?" Josh asked that question quietly.
Donna felt her heart leap, how she loved being alone with him. If only she could tell him she loved him. "Ok" was all she could get out.
They walked to his car and he drove them to a small little Italian café. "You don't mind?" he asked.
"No I like your choice".
He smiled as they walked in and were seated, "it's my way of thanking you".
"For what?" she asked.
"For the past few months you've helped me through a lot. You helped me see Amy for the trash that she was, for the fiasco with the senator. For walking into my life".
Donna felt herself blush, this was so unlike Josh but she was determined to enjoy it.
Josh couldn't resist looking at her, she was so beautiful and he knew he was in love with her. I'm going to tell her tonight. "The rain has stopped"
"Yeah but its still a nice night, want to join me in a walk?" she asked feeling brave.
Josh nodded, trying not to look to eager and they walked out of the restaurant. Donna felt brave enough to ask, "Do you miss Amy?"
"No I don't she wasn't the woman for me, she was threatened by our friendship, and when the day comes that a woman tells me I can't be friends with you then I know its time to move on".
Donna felt tears come into her eyes; Josh did all that for her. Just then the rain began to pour down again. They both hurried toward his car and got in wet but laughing. "I am drenched!" he told her.
"Not for the first time today, Josh I'm glad we're friends".
"Donna I have something to tell you, I want to be more than that".
"What are you saying?" "I'm in love with you, I always have been. If you don't feel the same way." he was cut off as she kissed him. Finally they broke for air.
"I love you to Josh" she whispered tears in her eyes.
They drove to his apartment where Josh got them both a towel as she made a cup of hot chocolate. Then they sat together on the couch under a blanket as they watched the rain fall, occasionally kissing and talking about their new relationship.
It was a perfect way to spend a rainy evening.
