Christine collapsed to the ground, pleading to a silent god for absolution, for some way to move on from the never ending hell she was in.

Fighting her tears, she didn't look up until she heard a soft whisper call to her, "Wandering child, so lost, so helpless; yearning for my guidance."

Hesitantly, she called back, "Angel or father? Friend or phantom? Who is it there staring?"

She continued, speaking over his gentle, "Have you forgotten your angel?"

"Angel oh speak, what endless longings, echo in this whisper?"

His answer was swift; voice calm, yet firm. "Too long you've wandered in winter, far from my fathering gaze."

She stood slowly, whispering, "Wildly my mind beats against you."

He agreed, "You resist."

Their voices overlapped with ease, twisting together as they had so many times before.

"Yet your soul obeys."

"Yet the soul obeys."

She began to ascend the stairs, her voice tangled with his, "Angel of music, I denied you. Turning from true beauty."

"Angel of music, you denied me. Turning from true beauty." His voice became commanding suddenly, though she could hear the barest hint of pleading in it as he said, "Angel of music, do not shun me."

She assured him,"Angel of music, my protector. Come to me, strange angel."

He seemed to agree with her desire to once again meet each other face-to-face, for he called back, "Come to your strange angel."

He beckoned her gently, "I am your angel of music. Come to me, angel of music."

Raoul's voice suddenly filled the cemetery, "No! Christine, wait! Wait!"

She blinked, startled as the spell broke and turned to him, away from her absolution.
