It had been 5 years since she had seen him. He was still after the title of Pokemon master. She still remembered all their adventures together like they had just happened yesterday. Still, he had left her here to run this gym with the same daily schedule and no adventures whatsoever. They seemed to follow him around. She stared out the opened window, her short orange hair ruffled slightly by the wind. A figure was walking down the road towards her house, and it looked very familiar. A young man wearing a hat and hosting a Pikachu on his shoulder was heading in her direction. She ran downstairs. By the time she was out the door he was only a few meters away.

"Hi Misty!" The young man said, a goofy smile adorning his face. Seeing this carefree attitude set Misty off. All the anger at his long absence came out at once.

"ASH! HOW COULD YOU?! YOU HAVN'T CALLED FOR YEARS!" She pulled out her mallet, and proceeded to use the young man's had as target practice. He took it without flinching.

"Misty, I'm sorry. Why I didn't all, I don't now, but I'm here now. I have something to say that I should have said years ago. I love you, Mist. And don't hit me for calling you that. Please." He cringed at the thought of that mallet connecting with his head again. This caused the orange haired girl to laugh.

"I guess I forgive you. That is, if you let me travel with you again."

"Sheesh. I tell you I love you, and you think I'm going to up and leave here without you?"

"You have left me too many times. I can't be sure."

"I'm not leaving you this time. Anyways, about the whole traveling thing, I'm done with that. I've decided to take the position of frontier brain around here." He embraced her, as if to enforce the idea that he wasn't leaving, and she didn't have to worry about him ever letting go. Then a stray memory came to mind.

"This is a dream."

"What do you mean?" She backed away sadly, tears starting to form in her green eyes.

"You're dead."

Misty awoke in her dark bedroom, sobbing harder as the seconds went by. She missed him. Five years ago today he had visited, and had taken her on a walk along cerulean cape. If only team rocket hadn't come after pikachu, he wouldn't have done it. They had been pushed over the side of one of the cliffs. She had grabbed the cliff with one hand, his with the other. They had both been slipping, still. Then, he let go. As he was falling, he mouthed something. What, she still wasn't sure. She had managed to pull herself up, but still wished she didn't. Knowing she wouldn't be able to sleep without another one of these dreams, she walked outside. Absentmindedly, she ended up at cerulean cape for the first time since then. There it was. The cliff that had stolen him from her. She walked up to the edge. Down below, waves crashed against the rocky shore. She closed her eyes, leaning forward.

'Ash, I love you. See you soon.' She hit rock, and that was it.
