The Best Christmas Present

Burgh opened the door to his familiar apartment in Castelia City and plopped onto his sofa, exhausted.

"What a party!" he breathed. He had spent the whole night at a Christmas party with all of the Gym Leaders across Unova. Everyone had given him so many presents. Which present should I enjoy first? he thought.

As he pondered, he absentmindedly picked up the new headphones that Elesa had given him and plugged them into his laptop. Realizing what he was doing, Burgh smiled to himself. "Yes, I'll do that." He looked up his favorite singer's new Christmas album and put on the headphones. Her familiar voice blasted into his ears.

Suddenly, Burgh was thrown into his childhood memories. He remembered when he met her, the beautiful girl who haunted him even now. They had graduated early from high school with their many friends, and promised to keep in touch. That was the last time he had seen her before she became famous, and she never once contacted him. They had been only friends, of course, but it still crushed him as he had always wanted them to be more. He soon found his other friends had moved on and forgotten him as well. The brilliant one, the genius hacker…all of them gone forever. Angrily, he had moved away from them. He changed his name and vowed to live without them. Even so, he never forgot how they betrayed him. The memory made him shed a tear…

A knock on the door roused Burgh from his memories. "Coming!" he cried. He opened it to find Alder, who was wearing a huge poufy wig and beard, a red overcoat that looked like it was for a Zekrom, a contrastingly tiny hat, and women's rubber boots. Burgh stifled a laugh. "Alder, what are you wearing?"

"The ladies didn't seem to mind," huffed the ridiculous Champion.

"Mm," was all Burgh could say to this.

"Anyway, that's not the point," said Alder with a wave of his hand. "I wanted to do something nice for Christmas. Something reeeeally special."

"What do you mean?" inquired Burgh. He was getting intrigued.

"Felt bad about missing that party, so I did some research on what all of the Gym Leaders really and truly wanted this year. I found some interesting stuff."

"How could you actually find that out? It's not like we'd actually post this on the internet or anything."

"Simple. I hacked into all of your computers to see what you wanted most."

"You what?" shrieked Burgh.

"I just used some cheap hacking software and looked at your most viewed websites. The present you wanted was blatently obvious but almost impossible to actually get."

"Alder, that's against the—wait, what?"

Alder laughed. "Yeah, I got your present. I bet you'll love it." He turned around. "You can come in now!" Footsteps sounded in the hallway.

Burgh cried out in shock as a girl came in to view, smiled shyly, and whispered, "Hi, Fletcher…"

*Giggling* Do you get it?

I get especially excited about this one when I wait for the reader to get it. This is actually the first fanfic I have ever written. And Alder is always fun to write about. He's ridiculous!

Till next time!
