Hello, everyone! So after watching the amazing piece of TV that was Cops & Robbers, I had this idea in school and started writing. I'd just like to say, Beckett's wall and I have a funny relationship. I like writing it as if it were a real wall, and Castle is beating the crap out of it with a sledgehammer. (Or his 'hammer' if you're a Doctor Horrible fan..hehe) So I like Beckett considering it that way in her head. Okay, I'm done.

Disclaimer: If I was Andrew Marlowe I would have been at that magical closed set...

This situation was not okay. The wall was supposed to be solid.

The entire day had started out fine. The infamous wall between them budged when he'd said "Tell me you need me.", but she could handle the occasional wobbling.

Now there were so many chunks missing. The foundation wasn't stable.

How could he do this to her? That explosion...she just couldn't think of anything but him. What she didn't say. What she'd wanted to say. What she knew.

She'd always thought there would be more time. Even as a cop, facing death every day, she knew he was there. She'd always just needed time.

Time to solve her mother's case, with him. Time to solve more cases. With all of her team. Ryan and Esposito, herself and Castle. Time to make their relationship more of what she seemed to want every day now. More looks, more words. There was always between them.

Running though that blown up bank wall screaming his name made her realize she was exposed. Naked without that wall up to guard her. Her feelings were all over her face in that moment.

God, seeing his face. He was safe. He was okay.

All she'd asked was "How are you?". She couldn't compose more from between her lips. She was just so god damn exposed looking at him. He smashed her already weakening defenses.

She had to touch him. Make sure that he was really there. Safe and sound.

His books had saved her before, but now his existence in front of her was keeping her grounded.

It wasn't about his books anymore. No, not a case, Nikki Heat, or the mayor was keeping them together. These feelings she were experiencing was proof of that.

She'd continued to hide behind that wall. Sometimes there were holes to peek in, or ways to peek over, but the wall was still there. And he was on the other side. All her fears of who she was without her mother's case and what they were, were behind it. These days she'd been tackling it being there one day at a time.

Now, it was smashed in front of her. She just saw him. All she wanted was him. She wanted to do something other than smile and stare into his eyes. Screw the wall! What had it done for her? Her partner was sitting in front of her alive right now.

But then the real world smashed back in. Martha was there. More hostages were sitting there. She could feel all of it coming back. But it wasn't..the same.

She was still worried about all of those things. Every single one of those things.

It bugged her until the dinner that night. Somehow, it all felt very comfortable.

Maybe she wouldn't be getting over these fears any time soon, but with Rick, she felt like they would make it through it all some how. She'd get there. And he'd be ready and willing.

They'd been there for each other so many times before, right? Castle - 9, Beckett - 8. (In her mind, he'd really saved her 10 times, counting his books and the rough times around her mother's death, but she'd probably never tell him that.)

They believed in this, and she was hopeful that was enough to make it all work out.

Hope you enjoyed! Love when you review! I love this fandom! You guys always put me in a good mood. Thanks for reading!
