Life turned upside down in my world not too long ago. My mother died of the black plague as did my father. My family slowly started deteriorating, one by one. What could I have done back then? I was only 15 years of age and still a young girl. I tried my best to save my family, but I couldn't save any of them. I was a survivor, but little did I know that two days after the plague had left our village, scavengers would come around and steel what they could.

My family was among the richest of our village and because of this, we were a large target. I remember sitting in the corner of my old bedroom after blacking out , crying helplessly. I was alone... no-one to stay by my side...

I heard the door slam from downstairs and footsteps started to fill the house. I was terrified to the point that I couldn't move an inch. The floors started creaking as they usually did. A gasp slipped from my lips as one of the scavengers passed by my door. The footsteps stopped.

'What will they do to me?' I thought. The scavenger came back to my door and slowly pushed it open. I hid as fast as I could, but it was no use. The scavenger walked over to where I hid and stood there for a second.

"She is very strong. Could she be a shield?" The man stated. A Shield? What is a shield? The man knelt down and grabbed my arm. He pulled me along with him as we moved at lightening speed. Is this even possible? No. This is all just a dream... My mother didn't die, nor did my father... This man...he's a dream as well. Actually, it's all a nightmare... I opened my eyes to see that I was still in his crushing grip. Why does it have to be me? Why ? I have done nothing wrong in my life! My mother raised me very well and I do not think that I deserve this tort-

The man yanked me out of my thoughts and threw me down on the floor. I put my hand down to lift up my side to see if I bruised, but my hand fell on something very sharp and it sliced through my skin just enough to let out a little blood. The man was suddenly accompanied by two other men and they were wide eyed and scary looking. The man that carried me was still calm, but he looked a little surprised. He sniffed the air then stepped toward me.

"Hmmm... Does not smell human, per say... Does not smell like a wet dog-"

"Oh! I know! She is a half breed-"The second man was cut off by the third.

"I knew there was something off about her..."

"Guys! Stop! She does not seem to know what were talking abou-" The first man started, but was again cut off. He started to look irritated.

"Don't tell me-"

"That she is a half breed and doesn't know it! That's impossible!" The third man was cut off by the second man again.

"Her parents have probably been feeding her blood all these years and told her it was something else."

EEW! BLOOD! I would NEVER drink that! That is disgusting! What is a half breed anyway? Why are these men kidnapping me? My thoughts trailed on as the first man went to a box in the corner of the room taking out a red plastic bag and stuck it in the stove to heat it up. A minute later he walked over with a cup filled with what looked to be juice.

"Is that juice?" I asked my first question and he held back a small luagh.

"Here. Try this. Does it taste familiar?" I looked down at the cup and took one small sip. It was familiar... and it tasted good! I gulped down the whole thing in seconds and I saw a smile creeping onto the three men's faces. I put it down and relaxed a little.

"What was that? Cranberry juice? Grape juice-"

"It was blood." He stated. A shocked expression found its way onto my face and stayed...
