Chapter 1

Kotoko couldn't believe it had been 5 years since Kotomi was born. It was a whirlwind, those past years.

Kotomi was the perfect combination of her and Irie-kun. The little girl was a spitting image of Kotoko, but she had her papa's hair and eyes.

And still no matter how hard she tried she could never beat Kotomi when racing for her husband.

"Mi-Chan wins!" Kotomi called as she clung to Irie-kun's arm. Irie-kun smiled, he too was baffled, the sweet little baby he held that day was now 5, and constantly giving her mother a run for her money which was always amusing to watch.

"I lost again" Kotoko sighed as she panted on the ground. "I'm getting too old for this…" Irie-kun gave her a humored smirk.

"You're only 30, Kotoko…" He said with his usual stern tone, "We're not that old yet…" Kotoko stood up and sighed, then Irie-kun smiled.

"You'll win next time" Irie-kun said with an air of false encouragement. He knew she would probably never beat Kotomi. The girl may act like Kotoko but as far as her brain power went she was her father's daughter no doubt.

Kotoko sighed and nodded, "Maybe..." she said knowing he was only saying those words. With that the three of them left the house to go to preschool and work.

When Kotoko got to work she saw her friends Tomoki and Motoki or Moto-Chan, with sweat drops on their heads.

"Good morning, what's?" Before Kotoko could ask, she was answered by Keita and Marina, two other nurses and friends of hers.

"You can't be a nurse just because you want to marry a rich doctor!" Keita yelled Marina had a scowl on her face.

"What's wrong with having ambitions…" she asked

"Your ambitions are disgusting…" Keita scolded. Marina smirked.

"And what about you and Akiko-Chan?" Marina said poking at him. Moto-Chan perked up. Kotoko and Tomoki nodded

"She has a point…" he said then all three looked a way as Keita glared.

"She just my patient." He said defensively, "I try to ensure that she's comfortable and happy while she's recovering…"

Just then a nurse call came through, Kotoko looked.

"It's Akiko-Chan" she said at Keita who nodded.

"I'm going now." He said leaving the station. Kotoko sat down and began looking through things as usual, and Moto-Chan came up.

"You know… That Keita really is really close minded." He said with a sigh. Kotoko smiled and chuckled slightly.

"He's just in Denial" she said

Marina scoffed, and looked at her phone. "The Nile isn't just a river in Egypt" Moto-Chan nodded then looked up at the clock on the wall.

"Well, I have to get to promotional training, see you all later." He said with his usual wave. "Oh and Kotoko don't cause too much trouble today". Kotoko made an "Ach" noise and the gay nurse left with a laugh.

Kotoko smiled. She remembered that day last week, Moto-Chan had signed up for the Maternity promotion, she promised to give him her support. She waved at him as he left.

"Good luck!" she called out.

As moto-Chan left, the head nurse walked in.

"Irie… Kotoko-San?" she said coming over. Kotoko stood up, hoping he wasn't in trouble.

"Yes, ma'am?" she asked carefully

"I need you to go the peds ward" she said looking up from a clipboard. Kotoko nodded.

"Alright I'm on my way" she said hurrying out, crashing into a cart as she ran down the hall.
