This popped into my head while in English class today, and I decided to give it a try. It's a first person POV. Just so you know, the POV isn't anyone in the Beyblade cast; it's an outside person. So hopefully you won't be confused.

He's been sitting there for a few hours now. All alone at that table for two. He has really nice hair actually, slate gray in the front and dark blue in the back. He looks familiar; maybe I've seen him on TV…

He came in a few hours ago, asking for a table for two. He was all alone, so I was wondering why he needed a table for two. According to him, he was meeting someone in a few minutes, so I gave him a menu and left him alone.

He sat quietly for a little while, looking over the menu and waiting patiently. He looked so excited, so I wonder who he is going to meet. Maybe a girlfriend? Or a long lost relative? Or maybe, it's even better; maybe he is meeting a long lost love. Nah. I've been reading way too many romance novels.

I brought him a basket of bread and a glass of water a few minutes after he arrived. He hasn't touched them. It looks like he really wants to wait until his friend shows up.

After a while the restaurant started to clear out. It's normally my favorite time, but not today. That boy looks so sad now. His friend hasn't shown up yet. He keeps looking at his watch and then at the door, but no one shows up.

I check on him every couple on minutes, making sure he doesn't want anything. He always turns my offers down. He's still waiting, he says.

I think it's dumb. He should get eating before the restaurant closes for the night. His friend is taking an awful long time.

It was almost midnight when I had to go break the news to him. The restaurant was closing. He would have to leave soon. Boy, I would have given anything to take back those words. He looked so sad. So beaten down. For a second, I actually thought he was going to cry. But no, he was a tough guy.

He nodded, and I asked him if he wanted anything to take on the road. He said no, and apologized for taking up one of our tables for the entire night. It was no trouble for us though. The costumer is always right.

He left after that. And left a nice tip too, even though I hadn't really done anything for him. We locked the doors after that, yet he still waited, just outside, looking out at the street.

I can see him form the kitchen, still standing, waiting. It started to rain a few minutes before, and his blue face paint is starting to run. Poor guy. I wonder where his friend is?

I guess it was about 12:30 when the poor kid finally went home. I guess he realized his friend wasn't going to show. I felt really bad for him, he really did look sad.

I was cleaning the tables when I heard the knock at the door. There was a kid standing there, wearing a Chinese tunic and a yin-yang headband. I guess the manager felt bad for him, because he opened the door. The kid was all flustered, asking if there was someone waiting for him inside.

I wonder if was asking about the boy I saw before? If so, he was long gone. We told him that, and he got the same facial expression as the other guy. So sad. Damnit. This job is too dramatic.

He left, thanking us anyway, and I got back to cleaning the tables. Boy, talk about a depressing night. I'm cleaning the first boy's table now. That damn glass of water is still there. He was waiting.

Just a little one shot. What do you think? Drop me a line! ^-^
