Not Part of The Plan

For the prompt "I need you to wake up, because I can't do this without you" from Barson Addict

Rafael paced the living room of the apartment that had become his home with Liv and Noah. It had been almost three years since they had admitted their feelings for each other. They were both stubborn, fiery, workaholics, so nobody except Lucia had given them a chance, but here they were a family. It was coming up on their second wedding anniversary, Liv was a Captain now, Noah was in first grade and he was preparing for a run for District Attorney. It wasn't always easy but they had built a great life together.

Things were different now and he knew they would never be the same. Rafael Barba was all about having a master plan and this was not a part of it. He had grown accustomed to the small interruptions of family life, Noah getting sick, Liv working late things like that. This was no small interruption though this changed everything.

He looked over at his wife asleep on the couch completely exhausted, having only been home from the hospital for two days. She had been amazing through it all, as always she was his hero. It had crushed him to see her in so much pain after so many months of sickness. Yet some how she pulled through it all and they were back home together.

The last thing he wanted to do was wake her. It was the first time she had slept all day, but he needed her, this was not something he could do on his own.

"Shhh, shhh Mi Amor," he whispered to their four day old daughter, Catalina. "Papi is here." He walked her across the living room again hoping she would sleep and allow Olivia to as well. The tiny girl would not be satisfied though, she wanted what only her Mami could provide.

"Liv, Liv," He whispered softly nudging his wife as he sat down next to her, "you need to wake up, because I can't do this without you."

She sat up, wordlessly taking Catalina from him. He marveled as soft gulping noises replaced their daughter's cries the moment she found her mother's breast. Liv offered him a soft sleepy smile as he shifted them both into his arms on the couch. No, this was not part of the plan but it was so much better than anything either of them could have ever planned.
