"Thank you, Obi," Shirayuki said with a smile, humming a little tune as she doodled in her notebook.

Obi jolted, her words freezing him in his spot, but burning him inside his chest. She was always magical that way, finding ways to make him feel so unnatural.

"F-For what, Miss?" He looked into her eyes, searching for a hint of humor or jest. He hadn't saved her from danger, not since she was kidnapped. She hadn't fallen recently, so she was definitely not thanking him for catching her. The breakfast he had made this morning was nothing special—he ought to be apologizing, actually, overcooking the eggs and burning the bacon— so there was no way she was thanking him for that.

"Well, somewhere in another universe, on another planet, there's a holiday where everyone is thanking one another," she started, her tone so chirpy and excited, "I thought I'd celebrate with them."

Obi smirked, side-eyeing his Miss, as he stretched his arms out above his head. "You totally made that up."

Shirayuki giggled and shrugged at her bodyguard. "Maybe. But I still want to say thank you."

Obi's eyebrow arched and he was full blown grinning now. "Is that how it works? I wonder."

Shirayuki went back to doodling in her notebook and continued humming.

Obi watched her from across the room and the sunrays from the window shined on her face like she didn't belong in this world.

He approached her slowly, not sneaky—just slow enough not to disturb her in her little world, but quiet enough to surprise her.

He was now hovering behind her, leaning down to peek at her masterpiece—she was drawing intricate shapes and designs that had no meaning, but it was beautiful nonetheless.

He leaned even closer and pecked a kiss on her unsuspecting cheek.

Shirayuki yelped in surprise and turned to face him, brushing her lips against his unsuspecting warm lips.

Their gazes locked—amber meeting green—as neither of them moved their lips from one another.

Shirayuki slightly parted her lips, darting her tongue to taste him.

Obi tilted his head, parted his mouth wider and slid his tongue against hers. His hands cupped the sides of Shirayuki's face as he pulled her in to deepen their kiss.

Shirayuki's eyes shut slowly and she sighed against his lips. She pulled back to gasp for air, breaking their kiss.

"What was that for?" she asked breathlessly. She was panting, like Obi had stolen all the air out of her chest, and she wanted to kiss him again to rob him of his breath as well.

Obi looked down on her, hands still on her warm cheeks, his thumbs caressing the red on her skin.

"Somewhere in another universe, on another planet, there's a holiday where everyone is kissing someone they love," he said softly.

Shirayuki smiled, exhaling into a quiet chuckle as she craned her neck up, her eyes inviting him down for another kiss. "You totally made that up."
