"Vin, aren't you gonna tell Da about your report card?"

"Sh!" Vin instructed.

"You should take r-r-r-res-suh-spo-spon-suh-si-bi-lity." JD struggled with the big word.

"Do you even know what that means?"

"Yep. Sure do! It means you stand up for what you do. I'm gonna stand up for mine."

"Yeah," Vin snorted. "You ain't got nothing to be afraid of."

"You don't either. Unca Chris'll understand."

Vin took out his wadded report card and glared at it. He shook his head and stuffed it back into his jeans pocket. There was no way his father was going to understand those marks without a whupping!
