Welcome to...
Human Resources, Block E!
-oOo-
I trudged despondently into the main room of my department. We were ridiculously low on budget because every other department saw us as a joke, fit only for the nickname of 'Low Resources'. Very bloody funny. The manager had only come down here once: when we were founded. The personnel were good though. There was Jason, who was the Deputy Head of Block E, and was also the financial manager. Also with us was Sam-Sam, who was now in his seventeenth reincarnation, Ethan McEthanface, who was just sort of there, and spent his time either working or drinking ginger beer, Fordd, who was the only person other than me or Ethan McEthanface (he insisted that we always refer to him by his full name) who actually did serious work, and finally, there was Steve, who always spoke like his name was in italics. We were Human Resources, Block E.
"So, I just got here and I've got no idea what the hell's going on today," Ethan McEthanface muttered as he stumbled into the room. "Oh, just discussing some problems." I looked around at Jason, Sam-Sam, Ethan McEthanface, Fordd, and Steve. "So, our budget has been cut, and-" I was interrupted by Fordd, who said, rather annoyed-sounding, "Can we talk about the fact that there's mildew under my desk and we could probably get some quick cash if we sold the spare desks and stuff." Everyone around the table agreed, and I added that to the list of solutions. "Sounds good."
The stuff was ready to be removed, and quickly. We called down some other members of the corporation to help us lug them out. "Haul ass, guys! These desks won't bloody well carry themselves out! Come on, dammit!"
All in all, after selling the desks, chairs and a couple of computers with keyboards, we made twenty-seven pounds and thirty-seven pence. Quite a good profit.
So, chapter one of my new project is done! Yay! This is a side project for now, but I may focus on it when I'm finished with Otherworld and Hey You.
