Alone

He is a lonely creature

He surrounds himself with the young

He is ancient

As old as the stars themselves

But through the companionship

Of those few lucky mortals

He allows himself to feel

At peace again

He allows himself to hope if just for a moment

That he isn't the monster

He isn't the perfect storm

He isn't the killer

The shadow in the dark

Lethal and brilliant

A supernova at it's end

But then tragedy follows tragedy

And he is alone again

They have left him again

Be it the lovely blonde creature who captivated an old man

Or a spitfire redhead and her loyal unto the end husband

The loyal companion who guarded him through hell as a human

Or the one who died for him, and still found the energy to love him as a brother

And they stayed with him

Be it as a struggling old man

Or a young man who used flirting as a defense

Or the youngest who was a little boy in a grownups game

Trying to maintain order in a body

That was meant for games and riddles

Not war and death

But they always leave in the end

Through their choice or others

But isn't it better to have loved and lost

Then to never have loved at all

And he did love

Contrary to the myth

He loved them all as his family at the very least

Bu all god things must come to an end

And he is alone

Again
