Chapter 1
Kronos POV
"I love you Sally, but I must go. It is part of the rules made by my blasted son. However, I can see the boy when he turns twelve, so that I may claim him as my own son."
Sally gave me a sad smile, but nodded her head in understanding. I leant down to her stomach and rubbed my hand along it.
"See you soon my son. I will be back to meet you one day. And the day I do, I will expect with great things from you. Goodbye for now, Perseus Jackson…
Sally POV
I watched Kronos emit a flash of light and disappear from my apartment. I knew he wasn't the same as the myths portrayed him to be. He was a kind, loving husband that seemed to genuinely care about his unborn son. I felt my stomach move as the baby lightly kicked my stomach. Ah speak of the devil. I thought to myself.
I prayed silently to the gods up on Mount Olympus, thanking them for blessing me with a good life. All the gods except Zeus knew of my husband, and for some strange reason, they were happy about it. After the first titan war, instead of being sent to Tartarus, Kronos made a bargain with the gods, which meant he could stay on the earth, as long as he doesn't cause any trouble. While Zeus was probably rocking in a corner with PTSD from being eaten. Oh well, lets just hope he doesn't find out about my wonderful husband. I thought to myself.
12 hours later
Artemis POV
I smiled at Sally Jackson, who was lying in bed, unconscious from delivering a wonderful child. Said child was sitting on my knee, fast asleep, so I took him to his bedroom and slowly lowered him into his cot. About five minutes later, a flash of light appeared, along with the lord of time himself. I sank to one knee and bowed.
"Lord Kronos.". I paused then added "Grandfather."
"No need to be some formal Artemis". Kronos smiled at me, as I rose from the ground. "Come give your old-old man a hug."
"Old-old man?" I asked, confused.
"Yeah, you know how you sometimes call your father your old man? Well I thought to myself that we needed a name for us grandfathers. So I thought, fuck it, I'll go with old-old man." He replied, with a cheeky smile. He beckoned me closer, and embraced me with a light hug. I smiled back, and accepted the hug, knowing full well he had changed from the boy who had once killed his own mother, to a light hearted, easy going titan lord.
"I'm here to see my son. I haven't got long, so how is he doing?"
I showed him Sally sleeping, then took him to his son's room.
"He's doing fine Kronos. A healthy looking boy if I do say so myself."
"Good." He suddenly switched to a more formal tone and told me this:
"Lady Artemis, I trust you with my life. Do you pledge to watch over this boy?"
"With my life, Lord Kronos." I replied, coming to a more formal stature.
"Thank you. Make sure no harm comes to him. And watch over Sally for me as well will you?"
I nodded, and his formal expression melted away, revealing the same old warm Kronos smile.
"Well then, I'm off. Gotta obey them stupid rules from Zeus if I'm to stay out of Tartarus. Adios amigos!" And with that, he vanished; his happy expression rubbing off on me as I smiled at his childish behaviour.
"Ah Kronos, what am I going to do with you?" I chuckled to myself, as I gave both Sally and Perseus one more look, and vanished.
Apollo POV
"Thank you Chiron. Now perhaps you'd like to hear one of my famous haikus."
"No thanks Apollo that will be all." Came the reply.
"Very well. Goodbye for now, old friend." I quickly faded and found myself in the woods where the hunters were camping. Time to check on my dear sister. See how much I can piss her off this time. A grin appeared on my face, as I walked towards my sister's silver tent.
"Hey sis, how's lif-" I started to say, when all of a sudden her lieutenant (Zoe, I think her name was) stepped out the tent with bow in hand, ready to draw, until she recognized who I was.
"Lord Apollo". She sank to one knee and hung her head slightly. I quickly changed to a formal tone.
"Rise, young lieutenant". I ordered. She complied, so I asked the question I was dying to know the answer to. "Where is your leader?"
"Lady Artemis is delivering a powerful child my lord."
"What is the baby's name? Did she tell you?"
"No, however we know the last name to be Jackson."
"Very well. I will tell Zeus about it immediately. Give my best to the rest of the hunters."
"Of course, Lord Apollo. May I wish you farewell."
I vanished, and reappeared on Mount Olympus.
"Father, I bring great news."
Zeus POV
"What is it Apollo?" I asked, noticing the formal tone in his voice, rather than his usual cheery one.
"Artemis has successfully delivered a powerful demigod my lord."
"Do we know of the father"? I returned, curious to know of any more information.
"No my lord, however the Fates predict great things for the child."
"Leave me Apollo, I wish to think on this information alone."
Apollo complied, and I was left alone in the throne room.
Why this is interesting. Very interesting indeed. A voice spoke out, which alerted me instantly.
"Who are you?" I commanded.
Why young Zeus, I'd thought you of all people would recognise my voice. But then again, maybe not.
"Show yourself!" I was more curious than angry, but I was still tense, with a lightning bolt in hand.
It's your grandmother Zeus. It's Gaia.
"Gaia?"
Yes youngling.
It suddenly clicked that she knew about the baby Apollo had told me about.
I know about the baby, and I know who the father is.
"Who?" I said in a somewhat commanding tone, though trying to keep calm now that I realised she was speaking in my head.
Your father, Zeus. Kronos has had a child.
Alarm bells rang in my head. "Why that traitorous little fucking scumbag!!!!"
I feel the same way. In fact, I would love to get revenge. However, since I am stuck here, I need you to help kill the mother and the son, but only when the boy turns twelve. We cannot arouse suspicion.
I found myself agreeing to Gaia's request, and called a meeting to discuss this child.
5 hours later
"Meeting adjourned."
All the gods and goddesses swiftly stood up and left the throne room, going to their daily duties. Soon, only Dionysus and I remained.
"Don't do anything drastic father. I know that look in your eye means you're up to something". Dionysus commented, sipping on a goblet of wine.
A nervous look appeared on my face, but I changed it quickly, in hopes of Dionysus becoming even more suspicious.
I let out a small laugh. "I, the lord of the skies, do something drastic? Since when has that ever happened?"
"When you fought Typhon and lost drastically, and the time when you cornered Dementer as a snake to name a few." Dionysus countered.
"Fuck, I forgot about that." I muttered. "I promise you I will not do anything stupid."
"Good." Dionysus left the throne room, leaving me alone for the first time since I spoke to Gaia.
You know what you need to do? Gaia's voice rang through my head.
"Yes" I nodded.
Good. I feel myself slipping back to the ground, so make sure it's done.
My head felt empty now she was gone. I sat on my throne and sighed.
"This was gonna be a long ass twelve years." I said to myself. "Hang on a sec here. Wouldn't I be technically killing my brother? Ah fuck it."
