TerrorTale
Prologue:
Long ago, two races lived in harmony.
Human and Monsters.
Many of both races existed.
Humans were all over the world, but monsters were a species that pertained to one area.
The valley of Ebott, under the tallest mountain.
And in this area, for such a long time, humans and Monsters lived in peace.
Humans.
They had a passion for life, which gave them immense control of their souls.
Even control over when they would die.
But it did give them a more greedy and violent heart.
Monsters.
They were extremely skilled in the ways of magic, becoming a force to be reckoned with.
But, they were far weaker than humans. Enough strikes to the body could make one turn to dust.
And these facts caused fear and jealousy to build up, until one day, war erupted.
The Monsters became frightened by the humans ability to persist after death.
While humans feared the monsters ability to use magic.
This is what caused them to fued.
The war was a very messy one.
Fire spread.
Weapons clashed.
The blood of many a human was spilled across the battlefield.
The dust of many monsters scattered over the ashes left behind.
Only the strongest could survive.
This included the king and queen of the Monsters.
But in the end, the humans won.
They sent the monsters underground, beneath Mt. Ebott.
Using what little magic they had, they created a barrier that only a human soul could pass.
And only seven human souls would be enough to shatter the barrier. Only humans could leave. Monsters could not. Not without a soul for them to take.
And for the last four-hundred years, they've been under that Mountain.
At some point, a human fell down there.
Their name, was Chara.
Over the course of a few years, they built a friendship with the Prince of the Monsters, Asriel.
Their parents loved them both so much.
Chara and Asriel were as close as can be.
They often treated each other like they were true brother and sister.
Chara was a sign that not all humans were wicked; and hungry for blood.
Her kind attitude towards the monsters, and her devotion to her new family proved it.
It seemed like the future was bright for them all….
….But one day, a terrible thing happened…
In an attempt to free Monsterkind, both children lost their lives to the humans above ground.
Chara took her own life to help Asriel leave the barrier.
He absorbed her soul, and carried her body with him.
But when they reached the surface, Asriel could not bring himself to hurt the humans.
They attacked him without mercy, thinking he had killed the child in his arms.
But Asriel couldn't hurt anyone.
He had a heart of gold, that sadly, they couldn't see.
They only lived long enough for his parents to see him crumble to dust in the royal garden
The king and queen were heart broken.
And in any other timeline, the king would've declared war on the human race.
Would've claimed the lives of six human children who fell down before they would meet the one to help them leave.
But in this tale, he did not.
He didn't drop a single ounce of blood.
For this Tale told to you, is not the story you may remember.
No war was declared.
No queen ran away, disgusted with her husband.
No humans died by the hands of monsters. Under that mountain.
Those six previous children died of natural causes while under that mountain, and not by the hand of the king.
It seems rather peaceful, does it not?
Well, there is something that broke through that peace.
A creature.
A deadly creature.
It had skin as black as the night sky.
Eyes as red as hot coals.
Teeth as sharp as a knife.
Claws that dug into skin like hooks.
When it first arrived, nobody knew where it came from.
No one knew how this thing got here, but it was not to be taken lightly.
Soon, it stalked the people of the underground.
Each monster hid from it.
Whether it be in the capital of the kingdom, or the darkest and most forgotten place in the underground.
Mainly in groups.
And one bite from this creature, if not treated, or not pertaining to a strong willed monster, would taint a monsters soul.
They would go wild, like a rabbit wolf.
And it would be up to a very young child, with limited eyesight, a small flower, and a pink cheeked ghost to fix all of this.
This is the story, of TerrorTale.
