In Toushiro's opinion, Rangiku needed to pay more attention to something other than the funny things. Sure 'a day without laughter is a day of waste' at least that's what Rangiku is always saying to get out of duties such as paperwork, but all play and no work wasn't the way to go either. And admittedly she does take action when she needs too, but most of the time–

"Hey Taicho?"

Toushiro sighed, knowing she was going to say something random that would tick him off because she wasn't paying attention like she was supposed to. She hadn't even made a dent in her paperwork. "What?"

Her stomach growled loudly and she didn't seem embarrassed in the slightest about such a fact. She never did, come to think of it. The strawberry blonde woman always had her chin up and never backed down for anything. Even when he corrected her. She proceeded to poke her stomach that was covered by the traditional Shinigami garb "I'm hungry."

He tried not groan. Groaning wasn't graceful or captain like, and therefore, he wouldn't do it unless he honestly couldn't help it. He was right though, it was random. "Can't you ever pay attention?"

She pouted with full luscious lips, she did that a lot and somehow she always won because of it. "But I'm hungry, taicho! Let's go get something to eat. We've been in here all day."

"No. And besides you've only been in here for a half an hour and have hardly touched your paperwork." He wouldn't let her win this time though; he absolutely would not. Because then he'd never get her back on that chair and thus he'd end having to do her paperwork again.

"I have too!" She argued while waving around two or so documents.

"Two, very impressive." He deadpanned in a sarcastic manner as he returned to the document he was looking over before she'd interrupted him.

"I know." He could hear the beam in her voice and mentally rolled his eyes. She seemed to be the only one, with the exception of Momo who dared to get under his skin without shying from his supposedly cold gaze.

"I was being sarcastic Rangiku."

"Oh. Wait, you were being sarcastic. Yes! That has to be some indication to the fact that you're loosening up, right?"

"Wrong." He signed the document, put it in the finished pile that was already out weighing the to-be-looked-over pile and moved on to the next one.

"Awww. Fine if I get fifteen" – he could just imagine her making a face at the notion – "done, will you go get something to eat with me?"

He paused thinking it over for a second. That's thirteen more than two. "will you finish more afterwards?"

She was silent for a second and so he looked up. She sighed, "Fine, go all hard-eyed on me why don't you."

He blinked, not realizing that he'd leveled her with such on intense gaze. But then again, it was Rangiku and she could just be exaggerating. "As long as you finish those documents, I suppose lunch wouldn't hurt."

Technically he didn't lose. He compromised. She did all the paperwork she was supposed to, and he went out to lunch with her. Maybe he could get these deals out of her more often. Who was he kidding? She probably was going to forget about the rest of those documents and then he will have to do them as well. She never did her paperwork after all. He really did have to stop letting her win.

–she was a pain in the ass. But his pain in the ass all the same.
